That was actually one of the most interesting comments he made. I won't read too much into it, but it is a departure from his previous comment on widebodies. He said that the used WB market right now is commanding a price of 30% of what a new airplane would cost. That is very interesting indeed.

Latest rumor from training last week was a T-Giving announcement of 35 787/350's for W Coast and 35 330's for E Coast.

BTW - It's the 16th and no W Coast Backdoors...UGH.

Baja.

Richard said that "because of all of the widebody orders [by other carriers] the used market is heating up, and the cost of 10 year old widebodies is about 30% of what you would otherwise pay". He also said that "Delta looks at total ownership costs, not operating costs, when evaluating airplanes".

That last sentance about ownership costs is comparing the capital cost of a used airplane that is less efficient [ie, A330neo or a used A330/B777] to a new airplanes that is more efficient [ie, A350 or B787]. Just because the new airplane burns less gas doesn't make it a better purchase.

Unstacked out of a regular line?

My category has three long Asia trips in open time for next month - any one of which would satisfy the LCW. The problem is, none of them operate over thanksgiving. So, instead of using one of those trips to build me a regular line, PBS dumped me into reserve. Is this kosher?

Lockheed Martin says in 5 years they will have the jet engine off of gas, and on to fusion.

That falls in line with used 777LRs being 3each for $350M.

Someone in ATL must dislike LAX ER-B's...Seems like it's taking longer and longer each month to get them out.

Baja.
