Yes you can contribute to both. I try to preserve and never touch my HSA contributions and I try to forecast the FSA costs
Why is it a good idea to have a limited-purpose FSA? IRS rules do not allow you to contribute to a health savings account (HSA) if you are covered by any non-qualifying health plan, including a general-purpose health FSA. By limiting FSA reimbursements to dental and vision care expenses, you (or your spouse) remain eligible to participate in both a limited-purpose FSA and an HSA. Participating in both plans allows you to maximize your savings and tax benefits. What is a limited-purpose flexible spending account? A limited-purpose health flexible spending account (referred to as a limited-purpose FSA) is much like a typical, general-purpose health FSA. However, under a limited-purpose FSA, eligible expenses are limited to qualifying dental and vision expenses for you, your spouse, and your eligible dependents. Here’s how a limited-purpose FSA works. Money is set aside from your paycheck before taxes are taken out. You can then use your pre-tax FSA dollars to pay for eligible vision or dental expenses throughout the plan year. You save money on expenses you’re already paying for, like dental checkups, vision exams, eyeglasses, and much more. Denny |

Thanks Denny. In the past I set aside 1200/yr for contacts, vision exam, prescript copay, etc. So with the HSA I could lower that amount to just cover vision and contacts.

If you have an HSA you can only have the Limited Purpose FSA. Basically it can only be spent on dental, glasses etc. You cannot use it for medical expenses.

Does anyone have any visibility on the next AE yet? The crew resource update says its to make room for new hires, but isn't it also the first one that melds the fenced pilots and also has a one year conversion? Or am I missing something?

I'm betting Friday of this week. Also, I think this is the last one before you 777 and 744 guys get to be at the merged airline:D

Except for the prescription copay (I don't think you can use a LP FSA for that), absolutely! And it's before tax money. I use it for glasses/exam and dental. The last couple of years either my wife or I have needed a crown and it has come in handy to have that money already put aside. Now $500 can be carried over year to year so you don't have to be right on the money in your estimate of expenses. Denny |

I fly the 717. I agree with ftb, when you hear 10 feet don't do anything. If you flare then you just drive the back wheels into their pavement. Another issue is we are all so scared about landing distance and heating up the brakes that we as a fleet are More concerned with getting her on the ground and stopped without using brakes. Also the auto throttles come back at a nice slow pace but if you try and get the plane to touch down early in the zone you lower the nose and speed up. Then you float thru the zone and end up not being able to hold the flare at ten feet.
Overall great plane excellent for the missions it is on |
Denny,
One more HSA question. I want to max it out and have Delta health rewards of 550 and contribution of 250(just me and my son). Do I deduct the 800 from the 6650 for my annual election or just elect 6650 and they will do the cyphering. |
