Sorry. If I only would remember to brief what I'm supposed to brief, I wouldn't forget to brief so much. :p

(I'm guessing my briefings are too brief.)

Well there's your problem, you've got to brief the briefs!

"First I'd like to hear about your Warts, then your Nats, and then we'll talk about your Lavs, and then your Ptsd and VD."

Yes. The question is: Why? Do we brief what we go-around for on every trip?

And I bet you think this song about you, don't you? :) As I said earlier, part of the objective is for the Captain to review what he will and will NOT abort for. Delta evidently is concerned that they abort too easily. If we start going-around spontaneously for no good reason, expect go-around briefings.

Delta also lets the Captains choose how they will handle the actual abort, and especially what happens after the decision is made. I can think of several permutations to the maneuver that I've heard routinely over the years.

There are other reasons to brief it:
1) Captains might not feel like anyone listens to them at home, so this is their big moment.
2) FO's with young children might feel like they never have time to tune out the world, and enjoy an introspective minute.
3) NewK uses it to let the aircraft know what it WILL do.

I see you've met my wife!

I've condensed all my briefings into a catchy rap, makes it easier for me to repeat quickly. I add all the things we are going to do on the layover, and I try to work in what we'll talk about in the cockpit as well; politics, religion, education, gun control, weed, going to the beach, what we'll drink, etc. I know I have a funny New Hampshire accent that is hard to understand, so I've included the words for you,

Welcome to Jam Brief (it's all you need to know):

Damian Marley - Welcome To Jamrock (Lyrics) - YouTube

Oh, and I always finish with, "I'm the most laid back guy you'll ever fly with..."

That helps set everyone at ease.

"Mmmm...Nutty Flavor!"

Did you then use that finger to "clean off" the onboard boom mike? Last one I used smelled a little funny.

As a new FO, I appreciate a detailed abnormals/abort brief on the first leg of a trip. I also think it's worthwhile to re-visit the abnormals on subsequent legs. It takes very little time and sets a professional tone.

'Approaching Inbound Course' and 'Approaching Vertical Path' are also fine callouts IMHO.

What I really wish I could do as the pilot flying is configure the gear and flaps myself. It seems like everytime I want to want to configure, the Captain is talking to ATC, which causes unnecessary delays in configuring. But then again, it's probably just me...

MCFlyer

Call for the items anyway he should be able to muli-task, configuring yourself is allowed per the FOM...

That's why I use my own headset!

To use the ship set would just be gross!:D

I'm too cheap for that but from now on I'll try to keep my tongue from touching it so much.
