So, when I know the CQ dates, the CQ Golden Days become irrelevant (won't affect line/reserve assignments) and I'll have a better idea how to bid that month. I'm finally starting to see the logic behind how things flow. In the beginning it seemed to be a bunch of unrelated days/times/dates.
I use the CQ golden days to make sure I have the opportunity to to bid birthdays, holidays etc off.

The CQ golden days are really a hold over from when they posted training with no regard to pilot input. Now that we bid for training they really have no function unless you are junior in category and can't hold any of the training slots you bid. They then provide you protection for those days.

So, EFB apps to use on layover... I'm SURE someone smart like BB has put Nook, Kindle, and/or Netflix on that thing. Come on fellas, share the love. Am I being paranoid by not wanting to log into this stuff with a Microsoft account (which I don't want)? There HAS to be a way to use nook/kindle/netflix on this dang surface RT without being forced to use a microsoft account and let them "combine" all your stuff (thereby surely dikking it all up on your other nook/kindle/android/apple devices!!).

Or am I just going to have to consider this surface device a total brick when I step out of the cockpit?
Thx
I have Kindle, FIFA 15, Age of Empires, Neflix, FoxSports, HBO GO, NBCSN, and many more. Just go to the app store and download. Yes you have to have a Microsoft ID just the same as you need an Apple ID. You don't have to have a CC connected to it if you don't want. I do because I have Xbox. I don't even carry my macbook anymore. The Surface is way better than an iPad as you can easily transfer files and add content via USB unlike an iPad. Drawback is lack of app support for RT. Just wait two years and we will have 3 Pros.... fingers crossed.

For guys like me who are junior in category, they still mean a great deal. I always get sent to training in my first month and I have never bid to have CQ in my first month.

The 1700 PCS run was still going at 1840 when I checked on a swap (flashing red banner). Do they normally take this long?

That's what I did to protect a birthday. We'll see if I can keep those days off after the line/reserve bid!

You just described my situation, and that of everyone behind me, perfectly!

No, and it's still processing. I think HAL blew a gasket.

On a related note does anybody know the latest on the JV scope non compliance/scope violation?
At the Council 20 meeting last week ago Donatelli said they would be filing a grievance over the JV scope, as it was technically impossible for them to cure it with the time left.

It was said by someone else there (I forget who) that the solution to the non-compliance might be figured out in discussions with the company. ie, there might not be an arbitration decision saying the pilots won, but the solution might be agreed upon by both sides.
