in Detroit, you should be able to get a city block of houses and a Taco Bell franchise for less than 10 bucks.

West of DTW, and looking at bus service, and buying a block of four to eight houses. Just ideas from an idle mind. It will be a decent place to call your base!

at my first airline that flew to europe we did not even get in a pool. the instructor said "there has never been a successful ditching in the north atlantic, and you ain't gonna be the first!"

In all seriousness, there are lots of nice affordable areas that would be great for exactly what you have in mind. However, I would forget the idea of bus service right off the bat. Don't even fool with public transportation in the Detroit area. It's awful.

I was referring to a private bus. Not anything public. It is in the idea stage. I was thinking that Ann Arbor or something a little farther west would do if we could get ppl to and fro.
