The facts. We're all old men now. Haha. We will be sick more than when we where 26 newly hired. The odds of the poster above " the big one" is more likely for all of us. There should be nothing in this contract that gives to get. PERIOD!!!! Not sick time, not anything....

I agree. I want to see how many hours go unused each year. I bet it's way in the companies favor. C2012 they pretty much budgeted for 100 hrs per pilot. I would bet that we are no where near 1,200,000 hrs of sick each year, even with the alleged total sick bank users. I have called in once since last summer, but if I had been sick more I wouldn't have hesitated. If, big if, there are people abusing it, than go after them. They are just trying to take away one of the few benefits we have improved on from ch11. Personally I would like to go back to the system we had at NWA. 5 hrs per month and an additional 7 if no sick time used that month and no cap.

Or not. I don't see the point in counter-bloviating to people that postulate it's rampant, by suggesting there is none.

We're sure picking some pretty silly topics on APC, last few pages. I think an underboob reset would be welcome.

Someone posted earlier that guys in their 30's and guys over 64 were the "worst" sick leave offenders. Considering that younger guys often have young kids (outbreak monkeys), and older guys are, well, old, is anyone surprised that these pilots would get sick more than others? How do they substantiate the claims that these are the leading offenders? Because they choose to verify less? The verification process is a PITA. I only do it if my illness requires a prescription since I rarely get close to the 100 hour "limit". Why not just deal with the gross offenders using the system in place and accept that people actually do get sick?

The point is that sick leave abuse is both provable and a serious enough offense to be terminated. Pilots aren't being terminated for sick leave abuse. It's a pretty important distinction. I've never understood why pilots are so willing to believe the worst of their fellow pilots without any proof of the alleged wrongdoing.
Pilots win when we refuse to believe management propaganda of systemic sick leave abuse. Sure. http://pixozu.com/wp-content/uploads...e6c5397daa.jpg Carl although her front side looks pretty good too!:D "Can I help you out to the car with those Ma'am". |

Ford & Harrison...1 DALPA................0 Carl |
Come on. Does it really matter whether you fly your trip. And the reserve pilot stays home and both get payed or you call in sick and the reserve pilot flys your trip and you both get payed. No monies are lost. It's w wash. Who's the company kidding.. Oh, maybe it's your Dalpa..

Sick should never be changed because a few guys call in sick over hunting season. All you end up doing is hurting the rest of us when we need it or might need it in the future. Remember it was delta who came to our alps and upped our sick to 270 hours a yr from 240. And now the company has givers remorse. Give me a break!

We're old. We now retire at 65. Not 60, soon to be older if we go the way of Japan. Please Alpa guys reading this. We will need a better sick policy not worse. Ok, I won't rant any more. Lol
