hey guys, another dumb new hire question. If I deviate from a deadhead does that count as part of the FDP? For example, they have me deadheading from base X, I live in base Y, I deviate from the deadhead for base X and want to fly to JFK the morning of an international TOE. Does me initiating my own deadhead count against the whole FDP? Thanks dudes!!

You lost me here, sorry, bud.
Good instructors get good surveys, so-so instructors get bad ones. Are you with me now? |

I bit the bullet and called scheduling and they said if you deviate its considered being on your own time. I do have one other question that i can't find in the scheduling guide or PWA. Is the only way to add time on top of your Reserve guarantee without flying the whole guarantee green slipping? Thanks!
In regard to your GS question, as a reservist all time that you fly as a GS (up to guarantee) is paid as straight pay ABOVE reserve guarantee. So assume reserve guarantee is 75 hours and you fly a 2-day 10:30 GS, your pay would be 85:30 hours even if you never flew another hour that month, plus you'd get those 2 days back as PB days. I highly recommend you read the scheduling reference handbook as it answers many of these questions you've got. |

Not 100% on this one, but if you are concerned about pay protection you might be able to nonrev instead of DDH and get the pay that is in the rotation -- like I said, I'm not certain about that one so please take this portion of my reply with a grain of salt. What I do know, is at least in my category most trips pay is calculated using 5:15 avg. calendar day which means all you would lose is your per diem for the DDH. If you are on a TAFB or block trip then you would stand to lose considerably more money.

First the easy one...greenslips Flown On Your Days Off are treated like Mike said. Greenslips flown on on-call days are treated like yellow slips. But, they mark you down as a GS received so you go to the end of the line. If the trip starts as a deadhead. The following is timeline out of order... Call scheduling within 24 hrs of sign in tell them you are deviating. Make your reservation to work under the company business tab in travel net within 2 weeks of the trips departure. Keep the hotel if you need it. There will be a minimal loss of perdiem. |
So who is flying the metal on all the new JV routes with Virgin??? I'M afraid of the answer. Oh yea, more cuts to the Narita flying, nice going ALPA.

One can book the deadhead on the front end within 2 weeks prior to contacting scheduling 24hrs before departure? I have a trip coming up in a few weeks and wanted to book the DH because flights are getting full already. Thanks for any clarification! |
