They may have had other complaints and had to re-run your category, remember, nothing is final until it's posted in iCrew on the 17th (today) so check there. If you still think something's fishy, call DALPA and have their PBS guys look at it.

When Delta implemented the $50 nonrev charge, I thought it was strictly to pay for what it cost the company to administer the nonrev program. Didn't it come into being around bankruptcy time?

I haven't paid the $50 for 3 years. After you retire, passes are virtually useless.

You don't want that waived. That keeps the IRS from taxing your pass privileges as income. This way you are paying for them.

As stated above, the $50 fee has nothing to do with pass privileges being considered income by the IRS. The 20% discount we get for a Fly for Less ticket, however, does find its roots in the IRS tax code which limits employee discounts to 20% to avoid being charged imputed income. Along those lines, I was expecting to be charged imputed income on our One Great Team passes as that was a guaranteed seat for the employee's benefit, not the company's but never saw anything that did so.

The $50 pass fee is merely another way to "balance the books" on the backs of employees - kinda like our buddy passes which have really become ridiculously priced when compared to, say, Southwest. Had a friend ask me about two passes so he and his wife could go to San Antonio and it priced out at $300 round trip per person...I was floored. Probably why I usually have 8 left at the end of my pass year. That's a benefit that the negotiating committee can give up for me in exchange for another $0.50/hr in per diem. 😊

I was on the jumpseat the other day, and the DL pilots mentioned there would be an AE bid closing "sometime" in March.

Very curious because I assume I'll get assigned nyc, and I want to bid ATL asap.

Anybody have a firm date on when the AE bid closes?

Arigato.

Bid is not out yet, but as a new hire you might be able to hold NYC M88 Captain on the next bid!

Good luck!!;)

Thanks for the replies.

When a bid does come out, how long is it typically open?

I believe they are required to be open for 10 days, then it usually takes a couple days to process it and manually check it, then the awards are posted to DL Net and in iCrew.

You must not have come from the school of sarcasm and ridicule. Must be a SNAP - sensitive new age pilot.

No, I think it's that I was actually looking for some real information, not sarcasm and ridicule. There are other forums for that.
