German Crew Hotels

What are the crew hotels in Munich, Stuttgart and Frankfurt. Shopping for a week-long spring vacation. I'm also searching the military MWR facility options...nothing available on AFVC. Sounds like retirees can only use the Eidelweiss if they actually live in Deutschland. Any other options out there for a cheap guy besides hostels?

Edelweiss was nice but you have to be in EUCOM now to use it. Better is AirbNb. I use that almost exclusively when traveling now. Apartments in the great cities of the world and very affordable. Most have internet and kitchens etc. Ive stayed at AirbNb apartments in Rome, Athens, Cyprus, Paris, Ireland and Sydney. Each time I was happy with what we had. My wife doesn't want to stay in hotels anymore. Plus you live like a local in a local neighborhood.

Thanks Humboldt...I'll check out AirBnB.

If I take my HS senior along on my 4-day LHR next month, what's the best way to get him to the airport and checked in. Never done LHR. Does the crew Van go to a separate security line like MAN, or can he get to check in/security from our drop off point?

He can't ride the crew van either way. Best to put him on the subway.

He'll have to go alone. Crew are required to ride the van and family can't ride the van. The Tube is convenient and cheap. Piccadilly line straight into Kensington. He'll probably beat you to the hotel.

The exit tax out of LHR is 100 pounds. you might want to budget that

It's actually right around $180 total.... but hey, it comes out as payroll destruction. It's actually cheaper to take the train thru the chunnel to BRU or CDG and leave, but under the current circumstances.... it's probably $180 well spent.

Hope this makes someone's day.
