I thought it was the 30/31/28th of the month, not 1st?

I know, it's only one day, but in fact, if the 'last day of the month' falls on a Saturday or Sunday, you'll be paid on the Friday, which could be the 28th when the 30th falls on a Sunday.

Mea Culpa. Either way, it's still not enough!

Last night I was offered and accepted a 1 day GS that was supposed to sign in today. About an hour after I accepted the GS, CS called me and told me the trip had been assigned in error due to another pilot having a WS on it. Since this was prior to 2 hours from trip sign-in, I don't believe I'm owed anything for this trip. That said, during the 1 hour period where the 1-day GS was on my line; another GS went out which had I not already had a GS on my line, would have been offered to me. Since at the time I already had a GS on my line the trip was never offered to me and it is now too late for me to call CS and ask for the trip.

1. Am I entitled to single pay for either trip?
2. If I am supposed to get single pay for the GS which wasn't offered to me, can I GS on top of it; and if so, do I need to call CS about the error before I accept a follow-on GS?

My recommendation is call the ALPA office and ask to speak to a scheduler. We have several retired company schedulers on the ALPA payroll. (read "your dues money). They are outstanding and are always a good first avenue when you have questions like this.

I have, but right now I'm in the call-back queue. Since this is time sensitive I was hoping somebody knew from 1st hand experience. I am pretty sure they owe me single pay for the GS they never offered me; however, I wouldn't want to accept another GS if it meant the company made up for it's error and they didn't have to pay me. Always better to be paid not to fly, than to fly.

edit: probably a moot point now. CS called with another GS and since I wasn't 100% certain I just took the GS they offered.

Have any of you commuters or regular non-rev travelers (I'm neither) figured out what the deal is between the av/au number of seats on travelnet and the number of seats not assigned on the airport standby list?

I'm trying to lug 6 of us to SJC for spring break which is lunacy and the av/au show two seats available but the airport standby list shows 30? That's a huge gap and I'm wondering if I should look for alternatives or if there are really 30 seats open. Flight leaves within 24 hours so the numbers should be close I would think.

You should get single pay and credit for the bypassed trip. You would still be eligible for the awarded greenslip.

Available seats are the number of unsold seats. Authorized is how much they will oversell that flight. The standby list shows any seat not assigned to a specific person. In the example you gave I would expect to see 28 HK's show up on the standby list once you get inside a hour before departure. They will fill those 28 seats and they are not open. You will need either misconnecting psgrs or no shows to make the flight. You can also check the prior flight around departure time for SDSB's. They would be confirmed psgrs on the flight you want who are trying to go early. If they get on it frees up seats on your flight. You can also be a victim of that if psgrs are trying to move up to your flight.

Don't use the airport standby list until you are in the airport, standing by.

Thirty unassigned seats, but they have been purchased. Nobody has checked in and selected them yet.

yeah and those seats are the reason you never leave the gate area until pushback. They have been sold but some, not all, may have been sold to travel sites like expedia so we sold the seats to them and cannot resell them, however expedia may not have sold them to anyone.
