You might be onto something. Over the years, I've had to call more for appropriate RR pay, and usually, you have to call to make the argument (not fight with them: present it). The guys that do Contract Administration are very helpful, but there a lot of stuff that requires a little detective work on the pilot's part. I now always try to figure out exactly why I'm being rerouted, looking for any evidence the issue was known 14 hours out.

Looking for good info about NYC. Taking a trip with the family, with the construction at LGA, is it easier to get to time square from JFK or EWR? What recommendations do you guys/gals have for Trans?

Sorry not overly familiar with LGA construction, but considering JFK is 20-60 minutes further away from Time Square (depending on traffic) that would have to be some awful construction to make JFK a better choice if you are driving.

As for methods to get there:
Uber
Airporter bus (you can check them out and purchase tickets online)
Mass transit -- this could make JFK a decent option since you could grab the air train from the terminal, there is no direct train to LGA. You could grab a bus from LGA to the train but I was based there for almost a year and never bothered with this option.

If you've got a full family, probably easiest getting everybody into a single Uber or taxi. Probably cheapest taking mass transit. If it's just you then the airporter makes sense.

If will then take 90-120 days to process (unsat). One person reviews each RR individually. I'm still waiting to hear back from a Rotation on May 23rd. Oh by the way....the RR pay on timecard is NOT under 'Reroute PAY' it is listed where the monthly rotations are listed under a weird code like 1FR. The whole process is placed upon you to follow up. The company is dragging their feet hoping you forget. The process is flawed.

Thanks buddy. yeah, it says RR on my current schedule. I know I'm due reroute pay because I was on a GS, on reserve, rerouted through my base after the last leg and into an off day. I got the PB days added back to my schedule by the scheduler. I called the other day and the scheduler said she was annotating it and placing it in the stack for the individual to review. Never did I imagine it would take 90-120 days (but go figure!) I'll call DALPA scheduling today...thanks!

Why does construction at LGA concern you? NY is constantly under construction. You will actually have more problems going to Manhattan from JFK because of the Van Wyck than from LGA.

The only advantage that JFK has is that you can catch the subway. Take the airtrain to JFK station or Jamaica Station (Just make sure you get on the Airtrain that goes outside the airport and not the one that is the terminal loop. It costs $5 when you get off at the end stations) Then grab a subway downtown.

ATTN:

Fly into JFK or EWR if you plan on arriving between 10AM and 8PM. The construction at LGA due to the new terminal knock down/build up over the next six years is causing literal grid lock within and outside of the airport and a daily basis. Yes, JFK and EWR are farther but you WILL sit longer flying into LGA in the middle of the day. Weekends may be OK, but weekdays no way. It's been a mess for employees to get to the terminal from employee parking with some people walking due to the gridlock! Good luck! Google LGA traffic for details!

This is what I was getting at. Is there an easy way to get from EWR to time square or is JFK better?

EWR should be much easier. Take the air train or whatever it is called from the terminal to the NJ transit rails station at Newark. From there take NJ tans it into Penn Station (NY side). Figure out which subway goes to Times Square and you're done.
Sorry I do not remember which color or letter it is. Been 13 years since I was there.
