So will there be added 777 positions elsewhere?

Eventually. They said several airplanes at a time are going into a cabin refresh, so they won't need as many 777 pilots for I'm guessing, 18 months.

And yes, I'm aware that all AEs aren't rosy, but have you seen the Q1 results? And we're still hiring around 1000 per year, right?:D

Stop posting smiles! This is a strickly negative forum. Positive comments are not allowed. Simple example is the announcement yesterday of a significant increase in winter flying to Europe next winter. Not one single post on any of the threads. Had it been a decrease we would have had at least one thread with 300 posts already!

I know! That A330 flight from LAX to AMS and CDG is only our second highest paying airplane. What a downer! And it's TWO long-distance flights. Pfffff. I bet that's so unpleasant, it will go to junior people, maybe even new-hires! :D

My guess is this indicates that the 717 will be next on the chopping block, why open an MSP base if the long-term plan is to shutter the type?

I think maybe 717s will come back east due to Cseries going out west. And I'd bet we aren't going to shutter the 717 anytime soon. Your grandkids will still be flying that thing at DAL.

Those flights are most likely some good news in and of themselves. Hopefully they are purely additional flights and not just a mandatory response to keep our share of the flying barely in compliance. We'll see.

My thoughts on the 717
If the c series performs well, I think we will order more of them and you will see it in every base as the leases on the 717 expire.
Why open up another base when you will have to draw it down in 5-7 years or even sooner

Reserve question. If you pick up a WS on an x day does it pay above Alv?

RES's can't pick up a WS. It would be a YS.

And no, it does not go above guarantee.

Just towards guarantee.... and a kind note from the company.

They are already moving the flying. There is no cost to open a base in MSP verses adding the flying to DTW or NYC. The cost is in closing LAX.
