I've seen a few people mention they cannot get g1 while others fly multiple greens each month due to the days they happen to be available. Do you think assigning greens on an annual vs. monthly basis would level the field a bit?

Yes it would, but no. It would force more senior FOs to upgrade though. What you need is to be available on the days statistically known for GS, Friday through Monday and the last few or first few days of the bid period. The less credit the better. I typically have 60-70 hours and take 5 out of the bank, then pick up a day to get to the trigger if needed. 12 days of flying gives you 18 days available to pick up. All of that requires the seniority to hold those days off. Besides I don't want to learn a new system. Keeping track of ARCOS is tough enough.

It all evens out in the end. Some months you're the hydrant and some months you're the dog.
Pilots who regularly get GS’s often make sacrifices in the bidding process to be available. Others who are unwilling to make those sacrifices then whine about it.

I feel if we went to a green slip system which reset every 2 months instead of every month it would be fairer to junior pilots. In fact one of the councils had passed a resolution directing the MEC into looking at this very idea about 2 years ago. Must've fallen into a black hole, I never heard another word about it.

You put in the request via PCS leave requests. Can use 1-4 vacation days from an existing vacation in the current vacation year. I believe you need the same reserve coverage as the APD. I used it once and it worked well! Do bear in mind that you will lose some pay even if you cover each day of a trip since our vacation day is worth less than a full work day. I went negative bank to keep my month full. Have fun at the wedding!

Thank you. I have 1extra vacation day and two weeks of vacation left (I.e. 15 days according to my time card) but both vacation weeks are scheduled for January and February. I’ll try this. Thanks.

I’m on reserve too, so it won’t hurt as bad. I’ve got CQ so each reserve day is only worth 4.3 I think. 73 (reserve guarantee)-12 (CQ pay) =61 hours/14 on call days=4.35714286....practically 4.36. (Say it the way Rainman talks for a little entertainment). Yeah, practically 4.36. Uh oh, Judge Warner’s on in 8 minutes. V E R N

Deleted. I figured it out. Thanks for the help guys. I hope it works.

Why do we need to level the field?

One last question, are IVD requests processed during the normal PCS runs every day? Thanks!

How long does reroute pay usually take to show up on my time card? It’s been 7 days, didn’t know if I should call and bug them or wait a few more days. Thanks!
