So riddle me this, I am given a report time of only 55 minutes after the start of a short call. Is this legal? Contractually I don’t have to be there before the “stays quo” of 2 hours right? No one is home at alpa. Is there a hotline I can call?
I am committed to a personal event until the start of my shortcall.
I figured this out by looking at icrew early

They can call you at short call time and then get ready at that point. Don't ack before

This is not the regionals. Live your life and at short call start time they will call you if needed. Just make sure you are within a reasonable amount of time to the parking lot. Normally 2 hours. I've been on my pontoon boat during short call. From call to dock boat, drive home, shower and drive to parking lot was about 2 hours.

I haven't been here all that long, but the times they've done something like that they've called me live and it's been "just get there when you can." Did you acknowledge the assignment? Someone with more knowledge will likely chime in soon, but even the 2 hour thing is only a "hard" time for commuting in during short call period, otherwise it's a "reasonable man theory" on show time.

The Scheduling Reference Handbook addresses this on page 54.

"Occasionally SC assignments may report very shortly after the SC begins. As long as the report is at or after SC start it is a legal assignment....With extremely short report/push back situations, the Company has made a business decision and understands you may not be able to report by the Company's posted time. You are not expected to drive excessively fast, for example, simply to make the Company's posted departure."

I would fulfill your previous obligations. Then, I would promptly go to work. If that takes you more than 55 minutes, I wouldn't worry about it.

It’s not even a rotation from my base. It’s another bases rotation but they are out of reserves

Even better when they start with a transcon on a 737. Welcome to 38B or 38E. Definite target for improvement next contract.

You must be talking about NYC 73N-B....we haven't had a positive day of reserve coverage in 3 months.

Yes, it should work fine.

Thanks. It seems the price of those things is all over the place.

When that has happened to me, the first words out of my mouth are, "I'm not going to make that report time." and they say, "can you make departure time?" and I say, "I can't promise that, but I'll try" and they say, "get here when you can". And I don't hear anything more about it. Once or twice they said "call when you're on the road", or call when you get to the employee lot, so we have a good ETA.

It's like a script... and I'm only 35 minutes from the employee lot. I'm on reserve a lot and I've only been called that close to departure once every 2 years or so.

In these scenarios, I always as for paid parking and I've never been denied. It's nice to skip the employee bus ride. You just have to remember that you parked there and not in the employee lot. :(
