Ya know what, it's in all of our separate perspectives. Here's mine. (Even though you didn't ask for it. :)) When I first started "real" pilots didn't have roll aboard suitcases and also carried their flight kits full of jepps and manuals (to offset the suitcase). So when I hear "observations" like yours, I harken back to those days and say what we have now is a heck of an improvement. Certainly it can always get better but to say your having a hard time fitting it in your carry on..........I'll say start carrying the flight kit again. I'm sure you can fit in there and your flight kit will still be a lot lighter than it used to be...

I can harken back to those days too. Steam gauges, global nav kits spread across three bags weighing 60-70 pounds. Hell back then C-5s were even painted camoflauge to keep people from seeing them apparently.

Nostalgia and the glory of yesteryear notwithstanding, my simple observation is that the friggin new case of an item that Microsoft doesn't even sell anymore is triple the width of the original issue.

That's it.

Nah, back than the C-5s were painted grey and white, the camo must have worked;) Don't forget the bag drag up the ladder!

I thought 23k was only for IROPS situations...

dc10guy 04-15-2017 06:37 AM

That is what I thought too. But it shows 23k for two days.
