Did that have anything to do with the resolution in NYC to divest CPZ?

Yep. Apparently she did not win in Vegas. She'll try her odds on the craps table in State Court. Delta's odds are better in Federal Court and you see where the case is headed already :)

BTW, GREAT LETTER from Lee Moak! Wonder if ALPA should start a letter writing campaign? Almost every US Airline is effected by this ... voters everywhere. We just need targeting information.

Great letter, and one that I thought was important to repost.

As I have stated the Association needs to come out with their stance and why. They are doing that.

We need to pressure our US Negotiating team to play hardball. Fact is that if they want to give four (4) slots a day to US carriers we can do that to their airline in this country. JAL will get four landing slots in the entire country each day. If our guys had the balls to do this, the whole "Open Skies" would be viewed differently. Not just a way to protect JAL.

If we fall for it as a country, we get what we deserve. It is not a union thing, but a US Policy thing. Our way of writing and agreeing to these types of deals need to take our interest in to mind as well. IMO it is correct for our Union to be for this. We should also be pressuring out team. I have written my reps, as well as the reps from a few states, to state the industry case, and what a mediocre policy would do to the US Airline industry.

Does it really matter Bar? It is done.

Politics are dirty

Yep, we will see how this Evil Empire of the USA deals with itself going forward. We need to be a little more "self-preservationists"

Politics may be dirty, but most of the time they make sense. It's the stuff I can't figure out that really holds my attention. Like, why would the most junior base push through a resolution that primarily exclusively negatively impacts junior pilots? Who was the Writer and the Second of that resolution? I mean, it would make more sense if that had come out of SEA.

Someone told me that whole battle along MEC lines was driven by a fear that f-NWA would leverage CPS to control the MEC, taking power from the f-DAL side. I did not think that was a possibility after ANC closed. ..Just trying to get to the logic of irrational decisions. You are correct, it does not matter. At this point I'm just curious why we keep taking aim at our foot and pulling the trigger. owww owww owww.

No doubt the JAL bailout coming via a virtual lock out of the Japanese market is a more important issue. We could attack the Japanese from Guam, but we really need a hub that is outside the control the boundaries of the US Dept of Homeland Security. The DHS makes it very difficult for Asians to connect through US hubs due to the expense and difficulty in obtaining travel visas. Many Asians avoid connecting through the US for that reason. The DHS does hurt us (and other US carriers) in that marketplace.

That would be fun, but expensive. If I can hold a "A" position, I am all over it.
