Sad and sobering fact ...

From December 2008 to December 2009, the price of oil has doubled.

In history, every year that oil doubled in price has led to a recession the following year.

:(

You may be a little too sad and sober on this one. Cheer up.

Consider what oil did just before it doubled.

(Not saying you were, just thinking of the old crustys I flew with and learned from how not to be that captain.)

I am sure I was. I would not call myself old and crusty though. If I told ya when I became a CA you would freak!

Hey ACL, it sounds like it is possible that you got MSP 88A. Not that you would possibly have any inside info:rolleyes: but are you not concerned about going to training then getting kicked off the airplane in one of the upcoming bids. I am a 01 hire and put NYC 88A on my AE. After it closed I began to wonder if on the off chance I get the award, I did not just set myself up for a training cycle that might not last even a year. Thoughts?

acl65pilot 12-30-2009 07:48 AM

Training does not concern me. I have been through two initials in the last three years and a transition. I figure I have two or three more initials or requals before things settle down. Training only stinks because of the checking portion, IMHO.
Add to it, or training is "gentlemanly" and because of that I just bid a bunch of positions that if I was awarded them would mean lots o training. Because there is no 9 to 88/90 transition course a lot of guys stayed away from it on this bid.
I did not AE or VD any position, only MD's. FWIW

Anyway to check on ones' MD choices...I forgot what I bid! :o Icrew wont let me look...

You wont be able to look until after the bids are released. The system is locked and no one can get into it. If you get something via AE/VD/MD, all your bids are expunged from the system and you get to re-enter your preferences. Makes it hard to see what choice you got if you do not have a record of what you bid!!

Two words, Screen Shot. It is what I do.

I'm going to really kick myself if someone junior to me got msp88a! I didn't even think about it! So stupid of me because I WANT to move there from ATL.
