It's interesting how two faced some can be...whine and complain about the paycuts they've endured, but then attacking those that work for them because they haven't taken as significant a cut. I guess that perspective comes from Fox "News":p If you pay the bills you get to complain, especially to those who live off your dues. Not saying people don't do a good job at national but to hold their hands out and tell someone not to complain is a bizzaro collective attitude that I think you'd only find on something like an Olberman or Maddow show. ALPA offers competitive salaries with excellent benefits, including: 26 days paid vacation and holidays per year; Generous sick and bereavement leave; Generous family health care benefits - PPO plus two HMO’s (where available) - medical, dental, and vision for employee, spouse, and/or dependent children; Company-paid premiums for disability and life insurance; $2 for $1 matching 401(k) retirement savings plan; Flexible spending accounts; and Retiree health plan. |

You and the other ALPA apologists can't possibly defend this one. Please stop trying. It only damages your credibility. The cold hard fact is that our union bureaucrats just paid $44 million of our money to cover their incompetence. Stunning, incredible incompetence. It may be premature to talk about decertification, but at some point there needs to be accountability. ALPA National has a whole building full of Benefit Administators, R&I Specialists, labor attorneys and others who are paid well into six figures. Their entire reason for being is to avoid this kind of disaster. Those people have failed us miserably. Decertification, no. Accountability, yes. $44 million. $44 million !! To start with, the people who are responsible for this debacle should resign or be terminated. To be clear, the Delta MEC has been sued over similar issues. We've had complaints filed by young pilots saying they were screwed, old pilots saying they were screwed, senior versus junior, and "deadzoners" with complaints about everybody else. So far all but two of those complaints have been thrown out (one got a summary judgement for ALPA that is being appealed, the other is about to start discovery). So please tell me how your logic above would work at Delta if Prater refused to sign a Delta MEC ratified document? What would you be calling for then? |
OK guys quick change of subject.... If you are on reserve what is the max credit you can be required to fly? Also if a line holder what is the max credit one can fly in a month?
Thanks |

Just so I understand your point of view, if management reduced its ranks by 35% and took some significant compensation cuts, your corollary would be that labor would have no right to complain? Am I understanding you correctly? |

But at this point in its history, it costs far more than it is worth to the members. There needs to be some serious reform. |

Yeah, I think that happened once she got divorced. Kinda went all man-hater for a while. Oh well, when one of her videos comes on you can just mute it. ;)

+1 What are we getting from national? We will never be able to strike nationally. We probably would have a hard time striking at our own airline. National told us to vote for Obama...what did that get us? National gave us age 65...great. SWA does just fine without a national union. Time for some real change. Dump 'em.

I guess that perspective comes from Fox "News":p PPL are complaining about the salaries of ALPA support staff et al. Have you looked at what the going rate is for the same job in the same city at a different organization? Didn't think so. Many of their benefits are close to that of the government employees in DC, many of these salaries are very close to what is competitive in DC. Some are over and some by a lot. Point is that overall these salaries are in line for what a similar job in DC would pay. I agree that some of it needs to be fixed, but not is all that it appears to be. |
