Lets not start with the political mumbo jumbo. It will end in deleted posts or the thread getting locked.
Do you want to do that? |

How's hope and change working out for ya? What was the deal with Airtrans withdrawl from EWR, CAL got all of their slots and the DOT signed off? Seems to me the precdent is not in the DOTs favor and wasn't CAL and UAL joining us in a filing or lawsuit about slot ownership? Aviation week had mentioned something along those lines. l |

You notice that you can still bid NYC 777?
Yep 320 SEA. |
Politics aside, it's pathetic how the government is overreaching it's authority with this deal. I always thought they had a moral obligation to be as unbiased and tainted by outside influence when it comes to fulfilling the duties of their job, but I guess I'm old fashioned that way.
I find it particularly ironic that the DOT wants to ensure fair, healthy competition in the NY and DC areas against "other" carriers who do not have a strong presence in those markets. The comically ironic part of it is that those "other" carriers have all been making ALOT more money then DAL, LCC, and the other major carriers over the past 5-10 years. I guess we are the one-legged man in that world famous contest. |
It is for their access and nothing else. The market will be evenly spit the way DAL proposed.

My guess is SWA, but if you give all the slots to the most profitable company over the last ten years, can you truly rationalize that the decision was made to ensure fair competition? I can't see the DOT getting away with that without being sued. |
They will be sold in an auction, so I am sure SWA will bid to win.
