In what order do they process the AEs? Is it AE, VD, MD?

Vacation / AE Award Question ....

I was previously awarded primary vacation PVAC 30May-05Jun. I also was awared an AE which was to be converted in Sept. Unfortunately, my AE is now being moved up to June. A message on iCrew appeared to tell me that my PVAC has been changed. I now see my PVAC as listed 30May-31May with an end time 2359. Then, 01-05Jun is still listed with zeros for the start/stop time.

I know you have to rebid vacation ... but I'm unsure how to do that. Have I automatically lost those days in June because of my AE award moveup?

700 feels more like the 757 all around. But, those who call it a "sports car" have never flown a 757 (or they consider a Toyota Corolla with the Sport package a "Sports Sedan" ) As ACL said, the 757 and 767 should be the gold standard by which all other aircraft (and some women) are judged.

You know where your Captains flew before by hearing their comments about the -700.

If it "sucks," then they were L1011 guys until the very end
If they think it is marginally OK, slow, but "all right," then they came from the 767-400 or 777
If they think it is marginal, noisy, but has really neat avionics (and they even eat while looking through the HUD) then they have a 757 background. This type likes to look at all the clouds and tell you if you're going to top them, or by how many degrees you're missing them.
If they think was a gift from the gods, overpowered with a great wing, and a very intelligent design. Incredibly reliable, easy to land, great brakes, comfortable, straight forward and by golly they just love flying it and they want to buy you beer every where you go ... they just came off a decade of flying a Douglas product.

... and that's one thing I liked about the MD88 community. Anyone else noticed the guys with four kids in college and a daughter getting married think getting a $5 footlong at Subway is splurging on an overnight?

Capn, I apologize for the cop out here but if I'm not mistaken its no AE, then VD, then MD. Its simultaneously and in seniority order especially since an AE cannot displace anyone. Section 22 E. Advance Entitlements and Voluntary Displacements

1. The following vacancies will be awarded simultaneously and in seniority order among pilots whose standing bid, in DBMS at the closing date and time, contains a preference for the category(ies) involved:

a. AE

b. VD,
c. contingent vacancies, and
d. other vacancies that:

1) first became known during the period of the posting of the vacancy notice, and
2) are caused by termination, resignation, or an absence whose anticipated duration is greater than 120 days.
Exception: A standing bid preference for an AE will not be awarded if such award, together with any VD/MD(s) for the same category, would create a surplus that would cause a displacement in the category.

2. A pilot who has commenced training pursuant to an AE, VD or MD, but has not yet been converted to his new category, will not be required to fly in his current category.

Exception one: This provision will not apply until the 181st day following the in-service date of a new aircraft type, or until the 91st day following the first date of a new or reestablished category.
Exception two: This provision will not apply to such pilot if his training is cancelled.

3. Pilots who hold an AE from the same posting and to the same category will (subject to Section 22 E. 6. b. and E. 9.) be converted in seniority order.

4. Pilots who hold a VD from the same posting and from the same category will (subject to Section 22 E. 6. b. and E. 9.) be converted in seniority order.

5. When pilots described in Section 22 E. 3. and/or 4., are competing for a vacancy in, or a displacement to, the same category, the Company will have the right to choose the group

(AE or VD) from which each conversion will be made.

If bidding opens tomorrow, shouldn't the bid packages be out by now?

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Transportation Department is approving a swap of takeoff and landing slots between Delta Air Lines Inc. and US Airways Group Inc., while imposing conditions similar to those that the airlines have said might kill the deal.

The slots are at Reagan National Airport in Washington and LaGuardia airport in New York.

The Transportation Department says it would require Delta and US Airways to sell 14 pairs of slots at Reagan and 20 at LaGuardia to airlines that have little service at those airports.

The DOT says its conditions are similar to those it announced on Feb. 9. The airlines said then that those conditions would negate the financial benefits of the deal.

Deleted. Beat me to the DOT deal. What options do DL/LCC have now?
