Batted par on this AE. The tons of refugees to DTW 7ER from CVG (as expected) were countered somewhat by reinstatements and new AEs.

I was fishing for a A slot anywhere, but it looks like the min AWARDED A spot is hovering around the %61 area. Looks like most of the new 88 slots were filled by displacements off the -9. But you can't win if you don't play.

OTOH on the FO side, SEA (~11.5k !!), the 330 (~9500 in DTW) and the Whale (~9000) especially have gone incredibly junior. In the past, those were usually senior FO spots for those who were going to retire out of the right seat, and now SEA is practically a new hire base.

Newbies are going to have some tough choices. Looks like MSP ER will be available practically out of the shoot, SEA is doable with a bit of a wait, and NYC is totally avoidable.

Interesting times...

I expect that the next AE will come out before any new hires are assigned positions. That will most likely see some shuffling around now that everyone sees the lay of the land. There will be some more senior folks filling those slots in MSP & SEA now that their eyes are open. NHs in 2010 will do well if the hiring continues into 2011.

On the last AE, I was able to score a position outside of NYC and I'm extremely happy. Good luck to the new hires, well at least some of you. The NYC right of passage awaits you. :D

After commuting to work for the last 14 years I am looking forward to the day that I start driving to work..... For me EWR is just under 2 hours as for JFK and LGA who knows. But I do know that trying to get a ride on an RJ, dealing with full, weight restricted flights, and cancellations makes a 2:30 drive a welcome change.

Well, I just learned that wondeful lesson of bid what you want. Oh well, looks like I get to commute to DTW. Oh well, looke like I get to finally fly a Boeing.

Fingers crossed for a few displacements, oh well. It is positive that someone as junior as myself can hold 7ER. So, newhires you may get just about anything in the field.

It will be a great time to get hired here. Good luck to all

As far as hotels go, I won't be much help. I haven't spent alot of nights in LA. If you don't use Priceline, the Hacienda Hotel is probably the cheapest at, I believe around $60-65 a night. I've used Priceline with a $50 bid (plus tax) and gotten both the airport doubletree and airport crowne plaza. Both MUCH nicer than the hacienda. If I don't get the bid then the hacienda is my fall back.

Yes he is a great guy. I've flown with him. Looks like he doing something different though.

CONGRATS, DENNY! :D

Looks like you will be spending some more quality time at home.

Looks like I get to stay on the DC-9. Is it possible for me to be in the same position percentage-wise as I would have been before? Geeze. I count 27 guys senior to me on the thing who bailed like they were on the Titanic. :D

Unless there are displacements and contingent vacancies it will be kinda tough to move into a category that doesn't have any openings on the next AE.

Thanks NewK!! It will be a welcome change from thinking I was going to be commuting the rest of my career!!

Now, when is the Company going to open up the category!!:) Any hints ACL or Slowplay? 2/3rds of the guys are already qualified on the ER!!

Sounds like this bid worked out okay for you too. That's good!

I agree Ferd. I think the union should take a very close look at the APA system. I assume you can do the APA system and still have line holders and reserve together instead of seperate (categories). Not that I care now!!:)
