A couple of days ago I stood in line for a breakfast burrito and struck a conversation with a SkyWest pilot. He mentioned that SKW is bidding on Compass and Mesaba.
Is Delta selling them? If the deal goes through will CPZ and MSB pilots loose the flow up and Delta pilots flow down in case of F? True or false? Thanks |

We had the same problem on the Delta side. There was a major recession in the airline industry. I made 30 grand less then the year before because of the lack of flying. It would have occurred at NW with or without the merger and in fact NW more then likely would have seen a bigger drop with the collapse of the far east. The good news is the far east is coming back quicker then some other areas. If you look at the average NW pilots earnings for this year I think you will see quite a different story. I have spoken with several NW pilots who are on track for their best earnings since pre bankruptcy.
My post was a response to tsquare, maybe he made more last year than he did the year before the merger? |

DAL,
I do the same thing. I was just a little upset that: 1.) Keenster got off of that flight & 2.) The captain let him. It's one thing if he just showed up 5 minutes before departure, but I think he said he was there about an hour prior. All I can say is three words, "That's messed up." I think Keen should take it to the chief pilot level and maybe they can put out another memo or something.... |

They are. They just did not initially. 350 items that they want to create hybrid policies for.
I may be uninformed, but no one I know has a good thing to say about the integration of procedures and policies. Really good people are all being replaced, retiring, or quiting thier jobs because of the in ablilty to input ideas and be taken seriously. They are pretty much slammed out of any process that might be taking place. Some pretty unbelieveable things have happened like "sit down and shut up there is a new sheriff in town". Its sad when the entire LCA group of one airplane has to do a letter about their position on a particular issue and threaten quiting in mass if they can't be heard. I call that pretty poor leadership in the flight ops portion of management at this company especially when dealing with a safety of flight item. We are not asking for things to go a certain way, It would be nice to have serious debate and really try to find best practices. I don't see that happening. I am waiting to see some glimmer of light that points to this taking place. Lip service is not what I am looking for. As Carl says, performance and results are what count. |

Anyone else hearing about a situation at the DCA overnight last night/this morning?

I listed for the jumpseat approximately 1 hour before departure. This may have created the problem, I don't know. That is the reason I am trying to put 2 and 2 together so I don't do something that will create a problem for me in the future.
That memo I pasted is more recent. I am carrying both in my bag as I TOO commute to PNS to get home....I have never been bumped as most Capts understand the PNS-ATL-PNS route is a JS-heavy route. As a commuter, but a lowly FO...I always bring up issues to help folks get to and from work..and will continue. See you on the flight TO and FROM ATL! |

Just wondering since you fly the 88, how could the airplane be load limited on a 40 minute flight. Obviously I am not understanding something about AWABS. Thought I had it down but I must be missing something.
