4-5 years ago, 7er paid more than 744 does today, it is really not that big of a deal.

Not going to argue that. Just saying that if this story is as presented, there might be a reason. I think there may be more to it like a pending FMLA, etc. Simply it is none of our business what if any the extenuating reasons are.

To re-answer the question, nope never heard of this happening, but given that the 744 is DTW based I am sure that the FO rep there is on it.

Might have been some training issues but other than that, I cannot imagine nor have I heard of this happening before. Might be a misunderstanding. If DAL now does not need all of the 744 bodies due to a change in forecasting they would have to cancel the bid, or have a AE in Nov or so to cancel these out.

Overall it is just weird.

After those ride-along debacles of the past few months, I'm beginning to wonder whether we have CP's going way off the reservation in some attempt to further their careers.

Our union needs to be all over this...quickly and hard.

Interesting tidbit I just heard about.....

I have a friend that was displaced from the 744 to the 7ER on the Jan AE. She was converted in early summer and is now flying as a 7ER B. On the latest AE she was reinstated to the 744.

Now this is where it gets interesting..... She was contacted by her CP and asked/advised to remain on the ER since Delta had invested "all the money and time" getting her qualified! That seems pretty low to have a CP lean on someone because they were displaced, qualified on a different aircraft but now wish to return to displaced position.

Anyone heard of this happening before?

Was she offered pay protection? That would be the only way it would make sense...

Not free but being paid for either way. It is may times cheaper to have a line pilot in both seats versus a PCP playing FO or CA. We own the sims to that is moot.

One thing I can think of involves a little dot connection.

Might now want someone who is junior to go to training only to be knocked off once again on the next bid when all or part of the category is moved. That makes sense to me.

If the company has the ability to project that far ahead, than we should not be training just to train.

It amazes me how second hand stories which almost always have something more to them or at least a couple different sides them, occupy so much of the bandwidth on here.

Agreed KC10, slow news week. :D

Thought they'd have the Projected Category List out by now.....guess we will continue to wait.

This isn't really second hand. The pilot in question is a friend of mine and relayed what I have stated personally to me. Now I wasn't the one that was actually called by the CP but I do believe what I was told. Even if there was a training issue I don't see why it would have any bearing on things.

As for the question of staying on the ER and getting paid the 744 rate this was not mentioned. I doubt she will MD off again unless we have a big draw down, as she should bid about 60 from the bottom.

Also all I asked was whether anyone had heard of this before, not a slam but rather a question.
