If the new FCs are good guys, fine and I guess I'll hold judgment or take your word for it.......for the moment.

However, I continue to be concerned that we continue to put "good old boys" who don't see any problems in the way we've always done things in positions of leadership. "Move along nothing to see here. New equipment, policies, procedures? Why would we need things like that".

If they are for "best practices", fine, like I said I'll watch and wait for now.

Constant improvement is the foundation of TQM...........adapt to changes in technology and business environments or die.

Absolutely correct.

The TQM I'm dealing with in my business can be frustrating because the drive to constantly improve can be demoralizing. No matter how good our results are, I'm always asked: "Show us how you're going to do better tomorrow?"

Our flight ops management guys couldn't even contemplate that level of pressure. They're still busy putting out the fires that their decisions have started.

If they're good leaders and managers of people, who gives a **** what they have flown or not flown? Its a managerial position that oversees sim schedules, instructors, etc. In reality, they have very little impact on operations and/or policies.

I resent the fact that you say only fDAL guys should be given positions in management that have no impact on operations and/or policies. :)

The 757 and 767 are common type ratings. Any fDAL guy coming to him with a technical debate would find him extremely knowledgeable and experienced in the common type.

The 744 is not a common type. The A330 is not a common type. The 777 is not a common type. Yet MD is the chief even though he's never flown the 744 or the A330.

All I am saying is that it is frustrating to put forth fixes to produce positive changes to operational procedures - to a guy who has never flown the airplane. Not trying to stir the pot, it just doesn't make sense. I think if our numbers continue to be as bad as they are, upper management's attention will be grabbed by the deteriorating trends. That could mean positive change.

I was being a wise ass. I'm including ALPA when I say Delta is a non-union airline.
