up where I am the main roads are good, intersections slushy and neighborhood streets impassable especially if its on a hill. I walked out of my garage and hit the ground pretty hard today. Forsyth went ahead and cxld the rest of the week. From the tv though looks like the highways are full speed but then you hear reports of it being really bad in spots. 6 am show with a 1 hr drive to the parking lot... hmmm... I think the clamp show will still be on when I leave.

No Clamp will be a sleeping for his overly productive trip.

I am glad I am not in GA right now. Hopefully it will all be cleaned up by the time I get home later this weekend

Yeah, there was a lot of talk about not having snow days on some of my friends FB conversations. In reality they will cancel winter break or spring break. Most counties have both.

If families have vacations scheduled they will still go. Only Fayette County Schools will put test that week!

It pays for your kids to go to private school

Liability, liability, liability. Wreck one school bus and the legal settlements will cost the district what it costs to keep the school open for 6 months. I'd have driven my kids to school myself today, but there's no way I would have put them on a school bus. Heck, I'm not even 100% comfortable with them riding the bus on a CAVU day.

I can see why the cancel school. In Cobb, if they determine 15% of the students at any school in the county can't come in for weather reasons the whole county gets the day off. It's not like a work type "come in if you can come in" situation where they lay the burden on the individual.

Hey, speaking of work type situations, any truth to the rumor that our Atlanta headquartered subcontracted lift provider has been handing out trip failures to people who can't make the drive in this week?? Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

A few of my buddies at that outfit have gotten CPU (Chief Pilot Unpaid) as the code on their trips since they did not report. I take that to mean that when the CP's finally get through the stack of these, most will get paid since there will be a mutany if they do not. It is just a pay code that scheduling sticks on their trips when they do not want to deal with the back last. It effectively moves it from their in box to the CP's in box. Now it is in their hands.

Since they have a commuter clause that defines flights tried, and many of the guys that got the CPU code are local, they will pay them to avoid the fight.

Just flew with a newhire (40hrs on the 320, was better than alot of Fos that have been on the 320 for 10+ yrs.) If he is representative of what we have hired, I am impressed. Not a flow thru, just a off the street regional pilot.

Not true. Company was very understanding and didn't want anyone to risk it if they felt it was dangerous. The company was also getting hotel rooms for people near the airport. I had training this week and they put me up in a nice hotel nearby so that I wouldn't have to drive. Things have changed here for the better.
