you can watch it today by streaming it from netflix. the show doesn't leave you with a lot of confidence in our "heated" pitot tubes vs. super cooled water droplets!
The thing I forgot to mention is say you have a 339 aircraft fleet of DAL 88s, 90s, used 90s, Saudi 90s, AAI 717s and Midwest 717s you'd have 65% of the fleet under 14 years old and half of those under 10. All of them acquired for a fraction of their original cost or especially a fraction of a new 737/320z The 88s would have the highest age but even then its an average of 20 years from a family of jets whose first generation proved 40+ was viable without hardly any updates much less the cockpit upgrade the board may approve.
Depends on the booking code. If it is a fly confirmed for less or even less ticket, no way. They are not allowed to upgrade those. If it one that she bought on Delta.com, it cannot hurt, but she will be after all of the FF and status upgrades. It is not the way it used to be domestically. International, I would tell ya yes, They upgrade anyone with a black passport when traveling overseas and there are seats avail.

Thanks, I will tell her to give it a try. Her company bought the ticket at the last minute so will keep my fingers crossed. The flight is wide open with no non-rev or airport stby's listed. We'll see.
Thanks Barrel Man. I see it's your first post, welcome aboard.

Not condoning this, but I believe you need to add the words "unless they are stapled" after the words "planes come with pilots".
I used to joke that AA would change their paint job from Luxuryliner to Swingliner everytime there was a merger rumor involving AA.
For those that dont get the joke:
Swingline

Essentially, I can only see it go as far as an agreement made by Boeing between one of their customers to sell 717's in exchange for 737's, while they have an agreement in place with another customer to purchase the aircraft on a given schedule, in compensation for whatever (I think we still have many rolling options for the 737).
The AAI pilots have enough to worry about being taken in as commoners in the Royal Family of Love and Wealth, and finding sleeping accomodations, without having to worry about rumors of another merger/spinoff.
And so do we.
I'd love to see the 717's at Delta... Might give me a chance to be a Captain before the 20 year point. However, I wouldn't be surprised if this whole rumor started with SWA guys saying "they're going to DAL", referring to Dallas-Love, not Delta.
I thought the 717's were MX nightmares...at least the engines? Also the only reason AAI can afford to continue to operate them is AAI bought an engine MX plan that is a flat rate to get all engine services done by the manufacturer. If they had bought this MX plan the 717's would have been parked long ago.
Just second hand info I've heard from AAI peeps.

From my understanding Horizon was being rebranded as a connection carrier, losing their jets and other feed operators would step in with CRJ's. Just seems like a strange move for an airline with a niche market and a desire to stand alone. Just a hunch, but it seems like Alaska wants the RJ's off their books; whether that desire is internal or external remains to be determined.
Alaska would bring a stronger west coast presence, Hawaiian, Mexico and Canadian flying to LUV. At the same time this would pull the rug out from under AA and DAL on the west coast. After LUV targeted DAL in ATL such a move would only make sense, especially when considering the point to point flying Alaska performs.
I'm not so sure if the purchase of Air Tran wasn't simply to take another LCC off the map and better align LUV against the big 3. The next five years should be some of the most interesting in history.
I'm probably way off.

I think it's entirely possible ALK remains the gorgeous virgin princess that remains continously engaged to us, accepts presents from other suitors, but noone ever gets to consume a marriage with. With LCC being the remaining large piece, and with speculation Parker might be willing to sell in pieces, I think the industry will find someone willing to put out, with multiple partners.
