Guys,

I've been thinking through the amount of recalling/hiring at other carriers...is DAL missing something? Here are the ones I'm aware of that are recalling/hiring now or in the next few months:

Alaska
American
Continental / United
Hawaiian
US Airways
AirTran / Southwest
Allegiant
Frontier / Republic
JetBlue
Virgin America
FedEx
Regionals - not sure

That really just leaves us and UPS as the big ones not hiring. What's the major difference between us and every other carrier in this list that's holding us back? (Besides the continual outsourcing of our narrowbody flying?) Are we still reaping the consequences of the early-out offered a few years back?

Thanks,
FlyZ

I'm just amazed by the amount of overreaction that goes on, partly due to an over-saturation of media. I totally get why these guys are upset, and why they feel that they should not be charge, wholeheartedly I agree with them. I don't necessarily agree with the way they went about it, but even that is not the issue.
I'm just floored at how everyone and their mother is out to demonize DAL, or any airline with a similar policy, and it's ironic to see politicians jumping on the bandwagon now as well. It just disgusts me to see certain Politicians slug their way into the limelight trying to capitalize their own agenda on the back of a minor news event.

When DAL is wrong I'll come out and say it, but I think people need to lighten up and move on from this.

15 minutes of fame - enough said. BZ to them for serving our country.

BTW O'Reilly had a good analysis this morning on F&F. He said, this is what you get when you don't pay your employees enough (DAL) and then take away whatever power they might have to make a good decision at their level.

I don't think the scenario would be possible. The VD uses the seniority number of the guy that you are volunteering to be displaced for. He would have to be able to hold the 320. You would hold the 320 on the AE before you could hold it on the VD.

Oh ok I didn't realize that. But let's say I could hold it seniority wise(using the person who would be displaced), but not unless I bumped someone jr. You can't bump someone JR on an AE, but you can on a VD, right?

Agreed-I've seen multiple friends on FB declare how they are not only boycotting delta, but also making it a point to tell everyone they can to do the same. Of course what comes up is the American Airlines commercial in the terminal thanking soldiers coming home. "See, American gets it." Unreal.

What base and are you seat locked?

If seat locked: You will be able to bid a Capt. position or a new category regardless of lock. Or, You can take a VD to any position the person you are protecting can hold UNLESS it is an OPEN position in which case you will be awarded it based on your own seniority.(ie. new category or vacancy)

If not seat locked: You will be awarded your AE first before your VD.
