But, I agree. JFK ER FO's can not be trusted

Neither can JFK ER Captains...

By the way... have I ever told you how great the commute is to JFK? There are a thousand flights/day with 90% seat availability... it's a piece of cake. You'll love it. Especially if you live in Florida. Oh... and all the trips are commutable on both ends no need for a crash pads either, but even if you have to stay overnight, hotels there are really inexpensive.

The best part, hands-down, is the modern terminals we use to treat our passengers. Nothing like bringing a load of foreigners into terminals two and three - "Welcome to the greatest country on earth." But wait, there's more. A world class pilot lounge awaits those with winged chests to satisfy their every aeronautical desire. With state-of-the-art computers, printers, and luxurious furniture to rest up before the big flight. What's that, you heard a storm actually blew the old-ass roof right off of half our pilot lounge?? No, no, no............ you must be thinking of a different NY airline (not air line) operation. Trust us.......

I got back from Rome yesterday, and we were put at Terminal 4. WOW. Customs is nice, mall BEFORE you got through securtiy to the gates. It is a very nice terminal in comparrson. And don't get me started on AAs or JBs terminal. Wasn't there a rumor it would be cheaper to by JB and get that terminal than building a new one? Not JB flamebait.

Maybe so, but nothing says "New York" like our terminal. Now, if only we could get it smell like urine.

FrankCobretti 05-04-2009 03:48 PM

BTW, I just realized that I've consumed enormous amounts of alcohol with at least two of the guys in this thread.

Silver2Gold 05-04-2009 03:51 PM

Couldn't be me - I only consume a heavy amount of alcohol. Not enormous.

Ok, not really flame bait but a controversial post. I was in Rome yesterday and the gate agents who have been working Delta flights for years were complaining about the Airbus 330s that we have been putting on the ATL-ROM leg. They said that it is so weight limited that you can't fill it with people and cargo. If you use all the seats they could only put on 2000 lbs of cargo. They even had to put half of the Bus's ATL pax bags on the ER going to NY.

If this is true the future of the Bus IMHO is limited. Our network guys love the belly cargo. I have been told that some routes the belly would make a profit and the pax are just gravy. I don't see those guys sticking with a plane that doesn't give them that option. Maybe there are some routes out there that the Bus is better suited?

Any truth to this, Bus guys? Not trying to start a war, just passing on an anecdote.

The bus took 298 pax and all of the bags,, flight time was 10+35..they wanted 24000 on the payload..and they were only able 12000. Its all about "rightsizing" and revenue...if its doesn't work on that route, they will move it...what aircraft was on it before.

Heh. True. But I'm not sure the decision of JetBlue to go into massive hock to build a gigantic, shiny new terminal (for example) will really equate to significant amounts of new business.

Sure, it's a great terminal. But who really wants to spend one more second than they have to at an airport? Nobody is going to say "Boy, I'll spend an extra $10 bucks on a ticket out of JFK so when I spend 30 minutes of my life waiting it will be in Terminal "Jet Blue" instead of Terminal 2 or 3".

/rant off

The real problems of JFK are airspace, taxiways, general congestion, ATC and gawd-awful taxi times during the international pushes. That, and the potholes in the ramp areas . . . .

So, you've seen our new lounge in CVG!
