Carl states what he believes, and I respect him for that. People can still disagree and not want a desk job. Driving to work every day would just suck. :D

I don't think these kinds of groups spontaneously errupt like this, without a specific action in mind.

I think I addressed the USAPA issue in my follow-up. I don't know that USAPA2 is the only plausible angle here. It seems likely, but how can I, as a non-insider, possibly tell you what DPA is trying to do, when they don't tell you what it is they want to actually accomplish?

And yes, of course groups like this erupt with a specific change in mind... they are unhappy with the current state of events. I would guess this is anything but spontaneous though. There are many many many guys I fly with that whenever the subject of the union comes up, the phrase that is ultimately uttered is "ALPA sucks"... Just like the impetus for the Tea Party... people are fed up with the choice(s) we now have. WRT ALPA, we have no choice. Competition is good.

Do I think they have a realistic of dethroning the champ? No.. not really, but I am very hopeful that this is a wakeup call. I am fully confident that when DPA dies, ALPA (just like the democraps and republicans) will go back to business as usual, and that makes me sad.

If ALPA is so secure in their position, then it should be a no brainer to go face to face and put all this stuff to rest once and for all.

All this other crap just reeks of insecurity in the Flat Earth Society.

Your concerns about the DPA are over the top wrt divisiveness. This is the PERFECT time for a DPA movement. It's gets DALPA off their asses and let's them know loud and clear that the group is unhappy. When we get around to time for the openers, DPA will die and go away, and the group will unite. I've seen this movie before. You and "the group" are blowing this way out of proportion because you perceive this as some sort of legitimate threat to throw them off the property which will never happen. Many supporters are tired of watching alpa national throw so much of it's muscle behind RJ carriers. (Look at the magazine cover in the last 5 years?) All the arguments for this apply.. how much dues do we pay vice what they pay? etc... Put down your pom poms for a little bit and look at the meat of the angst, and I think you will see where this is gonna go. That being said, next time you are in ATL ask one of the bubbas when Lee is gonna have me drive his car to Herndon for him.... The offer will stay open until he gets his beltway lobbying job.
