If the APC moderators are doing this, I don't have any idea about when they're doing it with other issues. ALPA is very powerful in squelching speech. Only time will tell if it works for them yet again.

Bye guys. Over and out.

PS: This post originated on the Latest and Greatest thread. Don't know if the mods will move it too.

+1

These forums owe a large part of their popularity to the fact that people perceive them as a place where they can anonymously share what is on their mind. If you take away the ability of folks to discuss their ideas in a populated forum or if you edit and re-arrange discussions into threads that they did not originally take place in then this place loses its intrinsic value to the majority of us who come here.

Guys- there is some discussion on going in regards to the Union Talk stuff... moving stuff off of this forum and burying them in that forum is not the right answer- this stuff needs to be easily discussed.

I'm working with the others to come up with an agreeable decision.

Carl, are you really trying to blame ALPA for the operation of a private business? I don't believe the operators/owners of APC really care what ALPA thinks.

Is it SOOO difficult to make one or two more mouse clicks? That's a far cry from ALPA "stopping" speech.

The union forum would not be a graveyard for DPA posts is there were a sufficient number of pilots who were interested in it.

Absolutely. Ask any webmaster. Two clicks away is like Siberia. The DPA thread was pretty lively while it was a "Major" topic. Since it was moved -- it's dead.

I like a good union battle as much as the next guy but only in measured doses. When it becomes repetitive, descends into name calling and the debate is not being advanced, I lose interest. I'd rather not see posts removed and censorship of L&G but in my opinion the ALPA/DPA food fight was starting to become more annoying than illuminating.

I liked it in its own thread. It seemed more focused and actually informative.
I absolutely respect the APC management's right to categorize the discussions however they see fit, but let's face reality --- "Union Talk" is Siberia.

I hope someone can come up with a compromise.

One question:

Does this site "earn" it's revenue through our page clicks?

There's your answer. We make this web site relevant. Chase us off and what 'cha got?

Shark 1: "HEY! What's the dude doing to Frank!?"

Shark 2: "that DUDE is Newk."

Shark 1: "Oh Frank is [bleep]ed"

Shark 2: "Nah, I kind of like a man with a slow chain-linked hand, a bubble maker with an easy touch. I want someone who will spend some time, not come and go in a heated rush. Believe me, I understand, when it comes to"

Shark 1: "No, Frank is [bleep]ed. He [blanked]ed his pants when he turned him upside down. He'd been better going off to the Union thread and never seen again."

Shark 2: "Nah, you don't know Newknow, he just wants to show the Mrs. something new, something blue..."

I don't think they even care. Internet Brands owns this and another 100 websites that normal people :) use, they used to be listed on NASDAQ. I'd wager this banter is a drop in the bucket for them financially.

The other sharks did kind of bolt when all that stuff was going on with Frank. :)
