Tried to share this underboob the other day, but wound up...well, let's just say it didn't make it. Didn't mean any harm (sorry). Anyway, I know enough of you appreciate some good under-side boob and I'd be remiss if I didn't at least share the link.

Jesse;
Did you get time out for that?
I was trying to use that picture in one of my powerpoint presentations. Thanks for the link.

and ACL flies to Moscow, where helmet laws are complied with
I don't know, 45% of the near 700 pilots who come after the first post 9/11 NWA pilot are on something larg... I mean higher paying than the 88/90/9. And that's throwing the 34 pilots on NBC out btw.
And many of those were put into those airplanes after the June AE including the plug who is now 7ER. So they're moving people or allowing them into those categories.
I think they don't want to furlough because of retirements, before it was the merger and now it's retirements and the cheapest place to put them is the 88. So I think when you look at the 88 and 9 you see the airline is overstaffed.
But not overstaffed on the 777. Something just makes me think trip parking is a part of that, people don't seem to understand when you go over ALV you reduce the required number of pilots. Unless I'm missing something.

Shiz, it's pretty simple. If this MEC had restoration as their objective, they would talk about it! It doesn't have to be super specific. The contract survey can fill in the blanks there. Just let us know that you're trying to get our profession and our careers back on track and that you understand that we have NOT accepted our current situation as some new "baseline" from which we should expect traditional improvements.
It is my opinion that restoration is not the objective of this MEC. Can you provide any quotes/facts that would indicate otherwise? And BTW, your reps by themselves do not count. Unless you have those reps telling you that this is the objective of the majority of the MEC. I'll be surprised if you have any quotes indicating this... but it would be a pleasant surprise nonetheless! Let's see them if you've got them!

Do you walk into the airport and start announcing to everyone around you that you are about to go fly a plane? NO. It's patently obvious that is what your intentions are, there isn't a need to parade around and rub it in people's faces*.
They ARE working towards improving our situation...every day!.... It's just that 15 months before a contract is amendable and the pilots have not been surveyed is not the appropriate time or place to go off and start beating your war drums. I have no doubt we will see the big guns come out, but they have to be unleashed at the right time for maximum effect. It's that "don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" thing. I advocate staying informed, volunteering to help when able, setting up your strike fund, and most of all patience, Grasshopper.
*Unless of course you are that FO at CAL who used to stand in a major intersection in the EWR concourse with the Tom Cruise Ray-Bans and just let everyone know that he's a "real pilot".

Sounds like a brief to stay awake for!
I've been told a furlough makes no sense unless it lasts at least 2 years due to training, etc. I'm at the bottom and I'm not concerned about it as the company makes huge profits and is facing huge potential retirements in the 60-65 age window. A lot can change in simply one quarter; the IATA forecasts a weak 2011 year of profits then later states, "Oops, we were off by 73%, the year is great, but 2012 will be bad...." The change occurs quicker than the forecasts can keep up.
I may be blind, but I cannot see anything pointing at a furlough.
I do wish china would quit flying those 90s and we finally had them all in the mod line. Scratch that, just on the line.

My only point is, we are going into contract negotiations. I expect the wine & roses will be put away in favor of the lemon juice and salt.
