I am around 5500ish on the list and as of Sep 1, 508 guys have left since the merger and 374 of them were senior to me. Carl's numbers are a little high but I get his drift. I know that projection numbers were changed for the north side as a result of the merger and the list but also were a lot else. The balance of all the factors is different for every person as their situation is specific to them and them alone.

I really don't think our junior 2000 pilots would like that but $ to donuts the company would accept the SW contract in a heartbeat. Just think every DL pilot flying to the FAR maxes. Remember it's the whole cost of the contract the NMB is looking at not just the pay rates.
Carl
Why do people keep spreading this crap? SWA pilots on average do not fly anywhere near FAR maxes. From everything I've seen, it sounds like they don't fly a whole lot more block time than we do.
And I don't buy the whole DAL pilots versus SWA pilots productivity argument. Our pilot group does a lot of different types of flying... so it's hard to compare. Maybe you should look at the revenue we produce and then try to say we shouldn't be paid as much! I think, for whatever reason, you are making excuses for mediocrity and using a good scare tactic to try and deflect the argument.

The SWA payrates are an easy rallying point, but as it has been pointed out, SWA contract would kills us. Just think about it, SWA (including AirTran) only has about 6-7000 pilots, and in the first 8 months of 2011 flew 91 million passengers all domestic. Delta flew 111 million.
Can't you folks see what's happening here? SWA is the one argument that ALPA can't ignore when it comes to trying to lower your expectations. It's their biggest nightmare. The only hope is to scare you away from wanting it by lying about it. Scaring people with the furlough word is just reprehensible, but it's all ALPA has left.

Change one, I guess I won't be there after all. I just signed in and my rotation has changed. Next time Buzz.

600 FNWA guys have taken early outs, yet I've only moved up 140 numbers since the SLI. (I'm at 12% on the list)
It seems to me that the majority of the pull and plug guys are still here, and a large number of guys that took the early outs were fairly junior.
Also, a good friend of mine-- pre merger Delta-- left during the first early out program. He was one of many PMDL to do so.
I don't want to rehash the seniority debate, but I have to raise the BS flag on this post.

I hadn't done this in a long time but I was on the overnight and...
I don't think you understand what I'm getting at, Carl. The plug and pull guys were all senior to me. Of the guys leaving early, less than a fourth of them are senior to me.
In other words, less than half of the pull and plug guys have left early.
Regarding "Most all of them were PMNW", I'm researching the exact numbers, but I recall it was about 3/4ths PMNW and 1/4th PMDL. Many on both sides were surprisingly junior.
During the first buyout, a good friend of mine-- PMDL-- took the offer, and retired. He was one of many PMDL guys who did so, and was among the most senior south guys to take the package. He was hired in 1997.
