Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
IMO, the only way that we will get the contract we want is for line pilot to start holding their reps accountable and recall them if they are not voting a certain way on resolutions or elections etc.
Most pilots do not seem to want to engage and most pilot expect someone else to carry the water. Until the majority of us realize that the only way you fix a mess is to get involved and demand change, the only thing that will change is the name on the door plaque.
I am a fan of you guys in DTW. They generally are very frank and open in their communication.
I also think that Tom's piece is a good read too. If anyone wants to read their news letter in full, they will need to get it from a C20 pilot since the last newsletter that was uploaded to the C20 website is from Oct 1,2010, a year ago.
This update also paid a very nice tribute to Bryan. Very impressive gentlemen.
Example du Jour
The previous two A330-200 CROTs were staffed without any solicitation sent out to the pilot group at large. The current MEC Chairman was a member of the final A330-200 CROT.
Did you know there is currently an A330-300 CROT? Do you know who is on that commitee so you can send your input? Did you see anything from DALPA asking if you were interested in serving or what the qualifications were?
Note: CROT is covered in the PWA and as such is administered by the MEC Chairman on the DALPA side.

I am aware, but that is because I read the DALPA site. I am of the opinion that all of this info needs to be pushed to each and every pilot with a e-mail address on a bi-monthly basis at a min. The reason of not wanting to overload pilots is garbage. If a pilot does not want to read it, they can hit delete. Most would be more interested if they had the data sent to them. A lot of pilots I talk to find the DALPA site, and ALPA site difficult to navigate and as a result do not feel like digging for information.
I would like to see a Committee Report pushed to everyone with an active e-mail address.
Well, that resolution doesn't say much of anything. The MEC agrees to discuss it? Really? The MEC resolution should have read: "The Delta MEC agrees that this resolution SHALL be the directive to the negotiating committee and SHALL constitute the minimum acceptable product of Section 1 to bring forth to the members for ratification."
But that's not what they said. Not even close. Like was said earlier, who was it on the MEC that voted NO to even discuss this at the MEC level? Whoever that was should be recalled immediately. Period.

I agree. I say we lynch 'em!!! I'll get the rope!
Might want to take action on this one!!!!
Call to Action: No New Taxes on Our Negotiated Benefits
September 27, 2011 – The U.S. Congress must pass a deficit reduction bill by January 2012 or there will be mandatory reductions in spending across the board. Several proposals are under consideration, one of which would raise income taxes or reduce tax preferences that exist today on employer-sponsored health care and defined contribution 401(k) retirement plans. Tell your member of Congress and your U.S. senators that you do not want to pay tax on your employer-provided health benefits. The “Super Committee” must act by November 23, 2011, so take action now!

That should not be necessary with the technology available. I shouldn't have to commute to a meeting on a day off to get a fellow delta pilot to make good decisions.

The Senate has to be present to vote on a bill or or Impeachment as well. If a motion to recall is passed, it goes to LEC vote and you can do that from your house.
I do get what you are saying, but everyone wants to do everything from the comfort of their couch, and until a few technologies become cheaper, I just do not see that being doable for a LEC meeting. Esp if they cut their budgets.
You also can use a proxy if you cannot attend. I like transparency, and want to find every way possible to get everyone to participate. I do know that the ATL reps looked at a way to do "Go to Meetings" a few years ago, but from what I gather, the end user issues, and lack of delay function on the feed where the issues. We need to be able to have a mute or delete function along with a delay to protect our pilots.
What I find ironic is that we can fill the GA convention center for the JPWA or C2K but cannot get 30 guys to attend a LEC meeting. DTW is a commuter base and they have a ton of pilot show up. I want a meeting at the airport and have been pushing for that for years.
Carl, it is a very insightful piece from S/T Massey but as he states ALPA is still the best way to go. Do not omit that. What he is getting at is that there are issues within the current structure that need fixing.
