Quick open enrollment question for anyone whom might know. Do we need to do anything to change our designated travel companion? I want to keep mine the same and I can't see anywhere in open enrollment where there is an option to change this or keep this the same. Thanks to anyone who can chime in with the answer.

That and another 30 777 A's and B's. That will total 30 A's and 30 B's from the 777 in the last two AE's.

56 people displaced from the highest paying equipment... How many will take a paycut?

THe last time I saw one was when I happened to check trip coverage, and a reserve got one of them.. but it never had shown up in open time. Personally, I wouldn't know how to even get to EWR if I got called out... it would probably take me half the day to get there.

It only takes one recovery trip or call out to EWR from Krew Gardens to never want to do it again. I had one once, and getting there via bus, subway, bus was enough to avoid reserve on any jet that could have reserves needed in EWR on short notice.

Crew Planning is assuming 800 training events from this AE If they can hold a few people here or there, they will, but 800 imo is probably conservative. I would suspect that of those "800" events 250-300 will be MD's to lower paying jets.(That is conservative, and it could be double that depending on how ppl bid.)

That's fine... I am just saying that this is not a common occurrence by a long shot. Would I let that temper my decision? Not really.. Maybe some of the junior FOs can chime in here with their experiences, but as a junior CA, I can tell you that EWR just never happens.. Besides.. since there is no time limit for report, I get there when I get there... No perspiration.. and I'm not taking a $200 cab either...

BTW, you mean this video? I think this is what happened to that 737.

I should have watched that video before trying to fry two turkeys in Korea. Almost burned down Songtan, right outside OSAN AB.

Travel companions are handled through pass benefits and not open enrollment. Log on to employee service center site. Your's should remain the same unless you change it and you don't need to redesignate a companion every year. You can make a change if you need to once a year at your employment anniversay date.

I know of some guys on the 73 and 88 who had to cover EWR trips and if its on SC, you tell scheds "Will be there when I get there". However, it still cost one guy $110 for a cab.

The ER is going junior again in NYC because of the increase in Domestic trips and the coverage of the three airports. Only bright spot is not having to lug the brain bag anymore.

Thanks H50! For some reason I thought it could only be changed during open enrollment. Still just a FNG here trying to figure stuff out. Thanks man!
