When do they post the bid packages for CQ? I need to bid for March and don't see anything yet.

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat. I think it opens on the 25th and closes on the 29th. The results are usually published within a few days after that.

You bid in PBS for the training pattern you want. Check on the crew resources page to verify the dates above, but I'm pretty sure it's right. There's a link near the bottom of the crew resources page detailing the entire "Bidding for CQ" process if you need specifics for your bid.

NWA paid 1.5X for anything over 80. We also did not differentiate between "pay" and "credit"; an hour was an hour, no matter how you got it.

Open time was assigned first to guys who would not break 80 with the assignment, then to guys who would. Each group was handled in seniority order. I preferred that system because it was very straightforward. There were no back-room horse trades or secret handshakes involved.

Don't forget that if your schedule was awarded over 80 (which was frequently), you were already into the 1.5.

Also don't forget, any time you picked up during the month that put you over 80, paid the 1.5. In the DAL equivalent, anything you picked up on a WS that was over 80 was 1.5. No waiting by the phone or sweating a last minute commute.

Also don't forget there were premium trips, like a DAL GS, that paid 1.5, even if you were under 80. If you were OVER 80 already, the multipliers stacked, so you got 2.25.

There are parts of the the DAL contract I like better, but the open time/premium flying isn't one of them.

Isn't the old story something like this: You go to a base and there are two C-5s and one of them is on jacks. What does this mean? The base only has one set of jacks.:D

But I struggle with finding good food there. Taco Bell was a fail. My favorite burrito place from years ago is gone. Suggestions from DTW... or LAX 73 guys?

Online Cafe has good crew discounts and a crew menu. If you are into breakfast, try there because they always have a sign out for all you can eat pancakes for like $3.99, or something. I don't know how they are though.

If you go there after breakfast and you like soup, the stuffed pepper soup is awesome (and cheap).

Coney Island is ok, too.

If you have a little time and feel like walking, there might be some good places over on the B/C concourse, too. But, they change so often, I have no idea what's still over there.

Otherwise, be sad you missed out on Rio Wraps when they were in their heyday.

That's one of my favorite jokes. Also:

Why is the C-5 nicknamed FRED? F%#+€!ng Royal Economic Disaster

What's the C-17's nickname? BARNEY.

Why? It's FRED's little friend.

On the subject of food at the DTW terminal.....does anybody else like the chili at Coney Island hot dogs? Not the place you'd necessarily think you'd find decent chili, but I'd go back. 'Specially on a cold Detroit de-ice kinda' day.

the Gyro's at Coney are one of my fav's in DTW fwiw
