To be fair here, that's not really the DCI carrier's fault as the gate agent and ramp at SHV are Delta Elite Services or whatever they're called, owned by DELTA. The majority of stations like SHV are contracted out by DELTA to these types of companies, and wholly owned by DELTA.

Thanks for the PS info Scoop!

I stand corrected. Thank You
Had to de-ice in SHV once, about this time of year. An old man with a mop and a bucket showed up around 7:45. By 8:30 he had climbed on the wing and begun mopping the frost. At 8:50, I asked his intentions regarding the tail. He stated he had not thought about that, but by 10:00 or so the frost usually just melts off ... and so it did. Just have to pace yourself. Then I observed what appeared to be a nearly new de-ice truck in Delta Connection Colors. He told me they filled it with water ... he thought last year, the water froze, busted the tank. Never got fixed. On board the jet was around $50,000 in revenue. We were tying up a new $28,000,000 airplane and the we ended up timing out and cancelling our last round trip that afternoon. With insufficient staffing, there were no pilots to replace us, so after 15 hours and 50 minutes on duty, we were released to compensatory rest. That took out tomorrow's first flight of the day as well. Delta gets their $10 an hour out of these outsourced employees, every penny of it ... . |

Honest question - what harm would be done by giving the membership the exact term sheet presented to management AFTER management has seen it? To whom are we "showing our hand" at that point?
- Management? They'll have ALREADY SEEN IT! - The Delta pilots? Those are OUR cards. I want to know where we stand! - The public? I doubt they care very much, and I don't see how this information leaking out would hurt our negotiations. - Wall Street? That's the only place I could see it having an effect. Perhaps if shareholders see a huge gap, they would expect our labor costs to increase significantly. However, it isn't the job of our union to protect shareholder interests. It's our interests they ought to (and hopefully do) have in mind. So, I don't want to see a watered down, generalized statement of what we are asking for. I want to know the details, both to give my reps guidance and evaluate ALPA's opening stance. How would that be harmful? |
We won't see a contract for five years. Management has no reason to get it done. This thingy called the RLA and the fact that the UCAL pilots can't get a contract done and the mess at LCC is our undoing. Management can buy anyone or anything and we can't do anything about it. Oh, and don't forget the rape of the AMR pilots that is about to begin. And no, I haven't been staring at an orange juice carton because it says "concentrate".

I inadvertently, indirectly led to the cancellation of seven flights once, no joke. |

Scoop,
My experience has been that if you are not on your scheduled DH it's up to you to get to the hotel. I don't believe they will change the transportation to fit your schedule. If I am wrong, please post here. If you are DH to ATL, there are vans going downtown all the time. |

We've held up our end. We'll see management's response shortly. |
