Just curious as to whether it was formal communication from your leadership? (i.e. letter, email, crew information file?) Or if the Chief Pilot told someone who told you?

Thanks,

GJ
It was in the monthly chief pilot monthly news letter.
The second part was an email

Glen Hauenstein, as quoted by TheStreet.com:

"Thirdly, counter-intuitively, the trans-Atlantic produced Delta's highest unit revenue in the first quarter, despite Europe's weakening economies." Hauenstein said. Trans-Atlantic PRASM grew 22% following a 9% capacity cut.

"Business travel in the aggregate is increasing despite the fact that Europe's in a recession," Hauenstein said. "That's contrary to what we expect. The U.S. is seeing opportunities in Europe to work (so) business traffic goes up.

More are possible because, as I mentioned, 110 is the maximum number that can flow from Compass in any 12-month period. On the other hand, it's always possible that they're *only* planning on taking Compass (and Mesaba) flowups. I think that's unlikely, though.
Ohh gotcha. Makes sense.

I hope the counter-intuitiveness continues because europe is sliding down the muck.

Now how many European destinations have been removed from the NYC ER bid package?

Scambo,

I too am a bit optimistic, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here - all the good you speak of above (and I hope it comes to be) are currently just forecasts - none of it has happened yet.

Not to mention the lower the EZ goes the more affordable it becomes for Americans to actually travel there.

A Subway 5 dollar footlong my, foot. Try a 10 Euro footlong. After getting hammered with the exchange rate you're paying 15 bucks for a sandwich. Everything there's like that. Bout time some wind came out of that sail.

Yeah the only "new aircraft" rumors are centered around used vaporware stagnation jets that we may have to give a sport bidding relative seniority windfall to another pilot group and more large RJ's to get. Pair that with our obsession with "capacity dicipline" and the LCC fantasy order books and growth looks skeptical at best.

Scoop;

I'm with ya. And I do believe the Eurozone IS a fly in the ointment. At least we have positive rumors. Now I'll go take my anti-manic meds. I'll be back to normal tomorrow.
