Oh, and for KC Ten guy re. Catch 22, buy the book, read it, then watch the movie!

http://www.amazon.com/Catch-22-Anniv...5485038&sr=1-1

The TV show Mash was based loosly on the book's theme.

NWA had a real "disaster waiting to happen" dual qualification in the contract prior to the 98 lockout. It was one of the things they struck over. I was hired post strike so I didn't experience it, but I've heard some pretty ridiculous stories about it. Maybe Carl or Newk can elaborate.

Mid month conversion? But I thought all of the scheduling-related LOAs DALPA touts as a "benefit" from "constructive engagement" were "improvements."

That is my favorite book of all time. And the movie ain't too bad either - but definitely read the book first.

KC-10,

No CGI - all genuine B-25 footage. The movie was made around 1970 and I have heard it said that the demand for flying B-25s for filming this movie is partially responsible for a lot of the B-25s still flying today.

Yes, and they still have many of those route authorities.

I got hired in '95 and luckily avoided it. For some reason, I don't think they were doing it too much back then, if at all. I remember hearing stories, too. If my memory is correct, there might even have been guys who were qualified on three airplanes / or three different seats, at the same time. Yikes.

Dunno if you guys have heard yet, but some interesting news coming out of the Compass Chief Pilot's Office the last few days....

1. Delta has confirmed 110 flowups in "early 1Q 2013," letters to be sent out later this summer. Obviously it's not final till my butt is sitting in class, but CPS is sure enough of it to be spooling up our own hiring in the fall. If the ratio from the last flow-up holds true, this implies at least 360 total newhires, and possibly more as 110 is the maximum that can flow in one year (1/4 of our total list).

2. We just signed an agreement with Delta to extend guaranteed interviews to all Compass pilots not covered by the flow (ie anyone hired after 8/2010). Applicants have to meet all DAL requirements and go through the entire Delta interview.

That is pretty awesome news.

Truth is, this is shaping up to be a banner DAL year: Record profits, more aircraft, TA before amendable date, (unknown merger), etc. The eurozone is the current fly in the ointment for maybe other things.

That is interesting news. Thanks for sharing. Hoping it comes true.
