Someone on the DALPA forum claims that the ATL Chief Pilot has said that a TA has been reached. Hearsay, sure...but we may see something soon.

It's hard for me to imagine how one could be so unaware. I hope there aren't many like that, but I fear otherwise.

In a way, I really admire these guys. I come on here almost every day to read the same crap from the same guys, and it gets really really old. I guess sometimes it is worth it because I occasionally (it is more and more rare however) find that nugget of information that drew me here in the first place. But for those of you.. and you know who you are... we get it. This is ALPA's last chance. If we don't get total restoration, you're voting no. You're tired of the FPL... you're voting no....... blah blah blah.......

And then there are those guys that you talk about.

They come to work. They do their job. They have remained moderately senior for QOL..... Then they go home to their families and forget all about Delta until time to go back to work. (One on my new hire classmates is still a 73FO, and has probably never been on any of these pathetic web boards) Good for them. Many of them probably live well within their means. They might be a little upset about things while at work, but like presidential politics, they realize that they have one vote and that vote for the most part truly is meaningless.

They probably even wear their hats and don't think twice about it. Gaaaaaah how can they be so idiotic?

Reminds me of something my last A said. He mentioned that back after 9/11, I want to say 2003 or 2004 or so, he was talking to another pilot and said "with guys on furlough..." and that pilot interupted and said "we have guys on furlough??"

yikes.

i think his response was ###?

So it's not new, but still amazing.

Senior and Clueless

Back in 2000 I was jumpseating down to MCO on an L-1011 as a shiny new Delta 737-200 FO. At the time, that was the teaming hub of the Delta Express operation. The Captain asked me if I had my app in with Delta because he was pretty sure we were hiring.

The Flight Engineer then tried to explain to the Captain that I already WAS a Delta pilot and Delta Express was mainline pilots...sunshine agreement...etc. To this day I don't think he got it.

In a way, it just gave me hope that maybe ONE day maybe I can be so insulated by money and seniority to afford such detachment!

We also had people that were so fed up with Delta at the time they swore they were going to apply to Song. Crazy but true!

Perhaps someone was using that as an excuse to pick up open time.

Maybe not. A lot of guys trying to give ALPA the benefit of the doubt with what we've seen so far (Neg. Notepad). But when the actual TA comes out, it will be vetted here and on the DALPA Forum like never before. If the pay and scope sections are stinkers (i.e. don't make significant progress toward restoration of pay and reversal of outsourcing), that, along with what we've seen so far is going to raise a lot of eyebrows and may open enough eyes to see a different outcome from years past. Sure, there will always be the committed ALPA loyalist lemming types... but I think there are many of us (hopefully the majority) that look at it from a practical business standpoint. We know what we've put into this career... the sacrifices we and our families have made along the way. We know the very significant responsibility we have on a daily basis and we are painfully aware of the career risks (medical, etc.) to which we are always exposed. A 42% lower standard of living than what we had 10 years ago and a huge percentage of Delta passengers being flown by non-Delta pilots... well, I don't think that is something that many of us will accept anymore. (Some of us never accepted it.) It's time to put our collective feet down and make a stand.

Great post. I am very interested to see the rest of the package to see if there is any of that.

Just so I understand -
You admire people who are ill-informed underpaid conformists because they have found a way to avoid thinking?

Thanks. Me too.

So, T... what did you think of the post? :D (other than liking the reference to a drum solo, which I'm guessing you misunderstood)

Blue Angel practice at Naval Air Station Pensacola, has anyone here ever gone? I have the dates and time and where to go, but anyone have any other insight?
