Why are things like short call even bring negotiated especially by giving them more? The new rest rules takes care of the 24 hr problem, and now we get RAW credit for them. Besides that there is nothing that has been negotiated that is better than what we have now or will be changed by the new rules.

I believe many people put in their survey that they wanted to see a higher guarantee for SC. It's only one more SC, and I'm thinking it will be optional.

Some guys on the DALPA forum seem convinced that the updated sick leave is 240 hours per year, resetting annually with no rolling 3 year total. Can that be right? I'm thinking no, but more importantly, can anyone explain what the wording actually means?

I'm a reserve B. I have never seen more than 3 SC in a month. Rarely do I see more than 4 on the reserve available list near the end of the month. If they want to up it to 7 I'm fine with that as long as the reserve guarantee and days off go up like it looks like it's going to do. Tired of 70 hours a month. I always have a wide open GS in and have only gotten 2. Reserve is easy enough as it is so if they want more efficiency out of me than that's fine as long as they show me the $$$$

I got it, but for the reserve changes to be staffing neutral I would expect a 6 hr ADC, Reserve Rotation guarantee once assigned a trip, and possible a 3:1 on the trip rig. Those nuggets would make this staffing positive, but still take away a lot of the potential for GS.
Because of these changes and the taking away for a lot of GS, I wonder if there is going to be a time and a half over 80/85 in this. There has got to be a quid for that. That said, I will try to refrain from projecting too much, just trying to make the math add up to positive gain. The side that we have seen could be a way to construct more pay per pilot without the appearance of such. |

Reminds me of something my last A said. He mentioned that back after 9/11, I want to say 2003 or 2004 or so, he was talking to another pilot and said "with guys on furlough..." and that pilot interupted and said "we have guys on furlough??"
yikes. i think his response was ###? So it's not new, but still amazing. While furloughed, (in 2004,) I was actually standing in the jetway talking with the FO when the captain walked up and asked who I flew with. When I told him I was furloughed Delta, he didn't believe me, claimed all the furloughees had been recalled. The FMII guys had, but not the FMI guys. When I showed him the furlough ID they had given us, he claimed it looked fake and had never seen anything like it. Refused to believe anyone was still out involuntarily and stormed off. Talked with the FO after the flight and he said the captain ranted about DCI pilots pretending to be mainline the whole flight and tried to convince the FO there were no furloughees. |

That's the info I have as well. Just trying to squash a rumor. With it not being true, I think someone must have gotten what the CP said wrong. He does not give out false rumors. |
