Maybe not. A lot of guys trying to give ALPA the benefit of the doubt with what we've seen so far (Neg. Notepad). But when the actual TA comes out, it will be vetted here and on the DALPA Forum like never before. If the pay and scope sections are stinkers (i.e. don't make significant progress toward restoration of pay and reversal of outsourcing), that, along with what we've seen so far is going to raise a lot of eyebrows and may open enough eyes to see a different outcome from years past. Sure, there will always be the committed ALPA loyalist lemming types... but I think there are many of us (hopefully the majority) that look at it from a practical business standpoint. We know what we've put into this career... the sacrifices we and our families have made along the way. We know the very significant responsibility we have on a daily basis and we are painfully aware of the career risks (medical, etc.) to which we are always exposed. A 42% lower standard of living than what we had 10 years ago and a huge percentage of Delta passengers being flown by non-Delta pilots... well, I don't think that is something that many of us will accept anymore. (Some of us never accepted it.) It's time to put our collective feet down and make a stand.

BTW, it was a pleasure to be in your jumpseat to watch you grab that DC-9 by the throat and set her down in ATL. :D

A few things that some of you might not know about DAL 88 Driver:

He has inside jokes...with complete strangers
Mosquitos refuse to bite him...purely out of respect
The IRS puts a little extra in his refund checks...just to be sure

Why are things like short call even bring negotiated especially by giving them more? The new rest rules takes care of the 24 hr problem, and now we get RAW credit for them. Besides that there is nothing that has been negotiated that is better than what we have now or will be changed by the new rules.

A general poll type question: When you see a Master Warning light and "TAIL COMP TEMP HI" do you immediately picture a calmly completed QRH procedure, or do you picture the aft section of the aircraft melting away as if it was wax?

I picture the DC9 in Memphis in August. No melting if it's a DC9. If it's an -88, I heard they don't care. :D

If the DALPA forum is any sign of what kind of level of discontent exists it would appear there's not much wrong in this NNP with that crowd. Biggest discussion over there is on the changes to sick pay.:(

I actually see it another way. With AL+15 they can further reduce bodies, making swapping, taking days off even more difficult.

Or it makes it easier to swap...in a lower paying category or even seat.

PilotFrog,

Ok this NN appears to be a precursor to a stinker, but we will only sit more short calls if our reserve guarantee is over 75, or we volunteer to do extra SCs for extra pay.

For years some guys on this very thread have been asking for just such a system. I am pretty unimpressed with the whole Notepad but the shortcall issue does not seem too bad. It would have been nice to have seen them go down to 5 but out of the 60% of Delta guys who filled out the contract survey the results were loud and clear: More pay, more pay, more pay yesterday, and finally a lot more pay.

We on this forum and even including the DALPA forum, are a very, very small minority of the DAL Pilot group, some who are woefully uninformed, - spread the word, let other guys know what you think and why.

Clearly this is a company that needs a concessionary contract to keep going.

I've hear that is a fairly common warning to get on the ground on a hot day in the summer, but I haven't encountered it much.

Inflight though it could possibly become a serious issue if you can't isolate the leak/stop it from bleeding hot air into the tailcone compartment. Something to do with pneumatic bleed lines coming off the engines and possibly degrading ice protection capabilities.

I think the best thing to do in this is case grab the volume 2 and start pulling circuit breakers until the annunciator goes away. ;)
