As much as I wish that were true, I think ALPA is going to have a much larger hand in this process than many think.

It has been a long time since I’ve been NYC based, but looking at their bid packages..
Depends on the aircraft (and probably schedules for a certain month?):
June’13:
737 and MD88/90 sign ins and releases in JFK and LGA.
320 – all 3, but very little EWR.
7ER – mostly JFK and some EWR.
767-400 – all JFK.
Hope this helps.
PS. Razorback – great intel, thank you!

I'm pretty surprised we've not seen more interest in this matter. Probably interest will peak when hiring starts. By then, it will be too late to do anything.

It will be interesting to watch. ALPA has an equal duty to it's members, each and every one. It is difficult to conceive of a union participating in a discriminatory process (which is what an interview is) without triggering claims that the union benefitted one member at the peril of another member.

You can still be discriminatory to some degree though. Otherwise there has to be a 100% hire rate and no one could credibly argue that in any context. And even if you had that, you'd also have to have a 100% interview rate. And even then it would have to be 100% in seniority order. ALPA is currently pushing to allow FO's to keep doing what they do (walk arounds in the rain, taking the fat one, etc) with a 2nd class medical, but ALPA is not pushing to allow Captain's to fly with 2nd class medicals. Is that discriminatory?

Looks like hiring will ramp up sooner vs later. FWIW, I spoke with the CP and 9E SSP candidates will NOT be required to have a BA and any previous 9E pilots who previously interviewed but didn't get the thumbs up: you WILL be able to participate in the SSP, so brush up on whatever held you back the first time....you're about to get a mulligan
