I meant to clarify that. I meant the category in general but I stand corrected.

I'll duck for incoming before I even say this, but the only CPO I ever got a factual answer with any forward looking program was NYC - Angie.

I was floored when I once walked into the DTW CPO with a few clarification questions and they (collectively) knew nothing about anything.

I believe that the DAL standard is that if you are invited to interview, you are qualified.

Correct. When I interviewed I was told by the CA in charge of hiring that interviews were guys that were essentially hired unless they proved otherwise. We've had a few of those. Just don't be THAT guy.

Same here. Sat down with a few of them recently including the dude from the safety video and they see hiring in the future but not this year. As far as hiring standards it's anyone's game according to them. Although, they feel as if they will have an upper hand in hiring who they want (IP's, CP's, Military) they know it's good to mix it up. A lot.

This is different. I'll bet the Pinnacle pilots are looked at a lot closer. They will be at the interview due to a contractual deal their union made, not their qualifications.

Okay, a guy that's been flying DAL passengers for X number of years is interviewing for a job flying DAL passengers and his qualifications are in question.

Somehow that dog don't hunt.

As someone who has flown with many of them, the interview is very needed.

Many there are great, but there are some absolute crazies. It behooves the brand greatly to screen them and weed out the ones that shouldn't have been flying DL pax in the first place.

I dont disagree with that. I just have a feeling that the paradigm of a 4 year degree is on its way out. Just another way to flush the punchbowl.

Per the agreement. Delta gets access to the pilots entire records at "Endeavor Air" not just PRIA. If you have one missed trip they can use that as an excuse to not hire. It's one day less of interviewing but meters the pilots ability to interview by seniority order. Not that great, I'd rather prove myself the old fashioned way. United has already hired a ton of guys. No one is banking on Delta's special blessing.

Yes, United has been and is hiring lots, and AA/US should be kicking things off in the fall, while DAL sits and watches the cream of the crop disappear. They will then come running to the pilots for relief because there was no way they could have seen this pilot shortage coming, and "Flight Ops wanted to hire the whole time but those meanies in accounting wouldn't let us. So please, just for the summer of 14, could we get a special letter to provide each reserve with 10 shortcalls a month and 75 more 76-seaters for an even 400? Then we'll be able to make it up to you on the next contract. Or possibly the one after that."
