Around 200 furlough bypass guys. I'm betting only half come back at most. Around 180 guys on military leave, but they come and go. I know one who just went on MIL leave this month.

203 on furlough bypass. My neighbor plans on coming back... He's one of the most senior ones.

MIL leave come and go all the time.

So does this mean off the street or are they just shooting for a certain number? 200-300? Or is this going to be sustained hiring?

Will this be the final chance for Fur bypass recall or can they remain on bypass?

Some yes some no. Some if the nw guys were recalled and furloughed again so they have bypass rights through about 2015.

I'd say a lot more lead time than that. DL gives 2 weeks or more notice anyway, and after interview most sit in "the pool" for a while waiting to hear, and most get a week or three weeks notice before the interview in the first place. So I'd say 2-3 months lead time with 2 being on the extreme end of what's even possible.

Since Bypass pilots are already hired but on "leave", I dont think they would be classified as a new-hire. Optimistically, I think we will hire 300, for now, on top of the returning bypasses. The SD letter says 300 new-hires and as a man of law,I believe SD will craft his words responsibly.

Depends. Some of the early 2007 hires were in class within a month of being called for an interview. I think I even heard of one guy who had a week notice for the interview and was in class a week after the interview. After things got rolling it was a little better. I was in class 7 weeks after being called for an interview.

Regrettably SD says say they want 300 additional pilots not new hires and he is clearly including the furlough bypasses. Based on this quote directly from his e-mail.

"Based on the current fleet plan and block hours, we’re estimating that we’ll need approximately 300 additional pilots to staff the operation through the end of 2014. To get this process started, we’ll be reaching out to the approximately 200 pilots who are currently on furlough bypass. Our first indoc class of 50 pilots will take place in early November – just a few months away -- with subsequent classes following closely behind. We believe this first class of pilots will come from the pool of furlough bypass pilots, and training will begin soon after they complete their indoctrination class. "

The good new is that they have only been contacted by 144 of the furlough by-pass guys about returning. ( I heard this from the Delta leave of absence people in March of 2013, I have no idea if accurate or not) So I would say that they will have at least 150 new hires on property could be a few more or less. It will be good to have a few new hires and kinda suck to have 150 come in above you if you are a 2007 or later hire. Oh well.

I know 6 bypass guys and they are all coming back.
