What do you think my grandpa thought about me completing UPT with two Japanese Air Force students in a plane designed by a Japanese corporation? Times change.

There is no problem with organizations such as WIA, OBAP, NGPA, and whatever organization you want to create. I have a daughter and when she is older and interested in aviation I very well see being a member of WIA to help expose her to the aviation environment. Being apart of these organizations however shouldn't influence if one is selected for the interview, but DAL makes it very well known they are associated with WIA, NGPA, and OBAP and these only.
To be completely non discriminatory it should be job fairs such as aero crew or fapa and that's it. Shouldn't even be a place on any of these profiles to fill out what race or origin we are and allow credentials be the playing factor.

One might similarly ask why, in the past, a minority female pilot has had to go to hiring conferences of organizations run predominantly by white males.
I would say, "because that's where the recruiters were."
SMe answer today. If I were in the market for a job and thought I'd get my dreamshot by going to the Society of Upper-Class Kelp-Eating Radicals conference, and i didn't mind sending my dollars to said organization, I would.
Of course, there are some organizations I wouldn't support due to their values and goals. One example: NAWVPLA (North American WSO-Viper Pilot Love Association).

Probably not the way he intended, but I get what he is saying. Since when does being: gay, female, black, Asian, white, male, etc. have anything to do with qualifications? These are factors part of the human species, but do they make us better at flying? (obvious answer here). So why then has it been allowed that companies associate themselves with these organizations and these are the only places these recruitment teams will meet with candidates? If you think about it, it is discrimination to whites, males, Indians, Asians, Muslims, Hindu, etc. because there are no organizations to represent them that these airlines associate themselves with. These carriers are one lawsuit away from not being associated with any of them and this could actually be something that happens.

I've been at DAL 18 years. I'm a white male as are most of my colleagues. However because DAL has always hired on merit alone, guess what happens when I fly with a non white male? I find the pilot (female, minority or both or neither) to be impeccably sharp and skilled, and enjoyable to fly with. I never question why someone has a DAL seniority number because I know they earned it and deserve to be here, as they demonstrate every time they fly, without exception.

I filled out my membership form and sent in my first ten years' worth of dues money (expensive, but worth it, no??)--but, I haven't heard back from them yet and I'm starting to get nervous.... I mean, what if I don't measure up to their exacting standards?
So, what do you think? Am I SUCKER material, or not??

If the only criteria for a airline to hire a pilot was their experience, there would be no need to have a face to face interview. They would simply send a offer letter to the applicants with the most flight time. We all know this is not how it works.
In today's world there is much more to being successful in this career than how long you've had your hand on a yoke (or side stick). I am the first to admit that I am sure I would have a hard time getting hired in today's environment. My total time spent preparing for my interview with NWA in late '84 was pulling out the information card in the seat back of a DC-10 and memorizing the current flight and route structure.
My point is that no matter what your gender, race, religion or sexual orientation is, a airline is going to hire the "type" of pilot they want. If I, or anyone else on the outside, knows what that is they would be rich.
Best of luck to you all. Delta is a great Air Line with a great future. Hang in there. Hopefully, you will all get a chance to "rock or not rock"

Put that in your educational achievements. Your app might not score as high since it took you longer but when a human screener screens your app, it could help you to explain that an educational achievement was the fact that you paid your way through school and didn't have daddy's money.
Bad gouge abounds from you. No offense. I can only wonder why you have had such a time of it getting called for an interview.
