Any idea what a tier II candidate would look like qualification wise? What does it take for a regional captain to make it to tier I? I realize that the exact recipe is under wraps, but I'd be curious if anyone has an idea.

at the interview last month A.K. mentioned we are still in Tier 1 and they may not dip into tier II for another couple years and he said Tier 3 may never get a look FWIW.

That's exactly what I did. It worked. And no, I was not asked.

Please tell me the importance of going to a job fair. I've never been to one, but when I talk to people who have they just tell me there's thousands of pilots there who wait in line for hours and hours and some may not even get a chance to talk to the recruiter. At Delta, is going to a job fair similar to having an internal pilot send an email to HR? Is going to the job fair more important? Should I do both? Please, someone shed some light on this for me.
I'd also love to get an idea of out of those who have been extended the invitation or been hired, how many of those guys and gals went to a job fair.

Tough question. You will find people with equally valid but diametrically opposing views on job fairs. Some think they're a 100% waste of money and time, others think the only reason they are flying for their current employer is because of the job fair.

I think Mike is right. Only you can decide if it was worth it. I would equate it to being stuck in traffic. You can sit there with everyone else feeling like you are barely moving (not going to a job fair) or try to take an alternate route (going to the job fair). The alternate route may cost more in gas and may not be faster but at least you might feel better that you were moving and doing something other than sitting still.

Personnally I go to the job fairs because it's worth the risk to me not to have any regrets.

I think tier II will contain a lot of EK pilots. Let hit them where it hurts.

Should include positive space nonstop DXB-ATL and standby for an upgrade upon check-in!

Great idea, if DL hired even half of the EK guys on file it would wreak havoc on their staffing model and most likely lead to parked planes. The 2nd largest nationality of pilots at Emirates are American, and a large percentage are looking at coming home.
