IMO...once your stats trigger an interview, Delta and their HR Dept hire personalities. They are looking for individuals who will be able to sit next to each other for 12 hours at a time. Flying experience will get you noticed on paper...that is about it. Military, civilian, corporate, space shuttle...doesn't matter once you get the interview...they know you can fly, be taught Delta procedures...they only are looking for personalities. IMO that is why no sim ride. Besides...people ace sim rides by practicing profiles if given the opportunities and financial resource to rent sim time prior to interview...not necessarily an even playing field for all.
I was told that a couple years into the last huge hiring spree (1985-1991) they did away with the sim ride but only for the Military guys, the Civilians still had to fly it as part of their interview.
I was told that was because they could easily verify what the Military guys had been flying with their flight records and a call to their squadron. But not so with the Civilians, so they made them fly the sim to prove they could indeed fly. Of course this was pre-RJ time too. Now, with the internet, DCC's and 50% of the Domestic market being flown by RJ's it's pretty easy for the company to verify who you are and what you've been doing, thus no need to prove it again.
You may want to clean up your Facebook page however, get rid of all those pictures of you partying with Mike Phelps!

Perhaps a bit of an abstract philosophy, I'll grant you guys that.....I wrote this after waking up and before coffee. All I am saying is that if the experienced corporate guys were all getting sucked up by the majors, a lot of owners would prefer to fly on the airlines where pilots with all backgrounds that have high level experience rather than staffing their jet with two guys under 500 hours.
To be honest I see a future where many retired airline pilots will be highly desired in 91/135 as this hiring boom continues.

I can't see a lot of retired airline pilots going to 91/135 where they will have to kiss someone's @ss as part of the job description. Personally, when I retire from the airlines, I'm gonna be no kidding RETIRED!
