DAL Poolie Info
#5493
I may - or may not have - started on Permissive. I can't remember exactly, but I think if you have your commander's blessing you may be able to - the leave AFI has the exact verbiage in the notes of the table for Permissive.
Or, you could just keep your mouth shut and do it anyway...

Hey, is anyone getting this kind of intel anywhere else? If so, from where???? Rumors abound around here so provides specifics if you can.
I would LOVE for this to be true, but in my virginal 6 weeks in the pool, this is the only post that claimed that any poolie would be in for anything less than a 6-8 month swim.
Anyone?

They expect to resume more normal ops shortly after the first of the year.
(The new sims have outstanding visual and motion. They fly great. The problem is a software weakness. The things won't do "snapshots". That makes certain parts of the syllabus take forever. They're working on a fix.)

The 737 pipeline has been slowed down recently due to problems with the new simulators and flight ops suddenly accelerating the timeline for putting all Seattle crews through the Juneau drill.

FWIW, I called Delta Pilot Selection earlier today and was told that Andy is out of pocket until next Monday. I know that even to Delta all this is kind of like reading tea leaves but hopefully next week he can pass along some good news with planned pool drainage dates.

Hey, thx for the info. So what is the "Juneau drill"? And I assume when you say "all" Seattle crews, you mean even the NON-737 guys?

Sorry for the derail, but did y'all get an RNAV into JNU? I thought you only had the public LDA approach ... well, y'all and the "Delta as operated by Compass", that is.

Sure you can, especially if your permissive is tied directly to your terminal leave. I know guys who have done it - nobody will care what you're doing on your own time. If you really care about the reg (36-3003), it says you can use PTDY "for a pre-separation or retirement relocation activity such as job or residence search"
The reg is vague, but if you really felt you need to follow your inferred intent of the verbiage you could consider job training as a "retirement relocation activity".
