Classic example of why a real union will always be difficult to have at Delta. Herkflyr thinks people who vote NO, do so without brainpower. So only YES voters are true thinkers and users of brainpower.
Herkflyr's probably the majority here at Delta. This pilot group is a YES voting group by default, therefore only a pretend union can actually be had here. Sad.

I think the demographic is changing, but will take a long time to get back to where the dominant voting block could retire at anytime. There may also be a bit of Stockholm syndrome after the 9-11/SARS/Asian banking crisis/BK/Black Swan catastrophe.

I'm not so sure Purp. So far this looks like a procedural carbon copy of C2012. If the MEC administration comes out and touts only the gains and denies the concessions, that dog might very well hunt...again.

I remember back in 2000 a buddy (retired military, didn't want to rock the boat, etc) saying "I sure hope we don't ever go on strike."
I replied "I don't want to, but we sure better be willing to, and I don't feel that you are."
And yes I was upset by the recent "be willing to say yes" missive from our MEC chair (where did that come from?)
Bottom line is that I acknowledge that there are knee jerk yes voters out there. But that doesn't mean that there aren't knee jerk no voters out there.
Just read any TA, evaluate, vote accordingly and give your fellow pilot the deference to do the same.

Part of the problem with so many voters inclined to vote yes, is there are many within the last 5 years of their career and holding out for the perfect contract doesn't benefit them. A 1% raise would more than zero. I get it, don't like it, but I get it.

Because some of these guys are seeing their last contact, it HAS TO BE HUGE! A piddley 1% raise won't do squat for them. They would be much more inclined to vote NO for a 1% raise, and wait it out.

Not true. I've flown with guys who said "well, I figure the union knows more than I do, so I'll just vote for whatever they bring." I got into serious disagreements with them over that.

I meant what I said in both posts (can't figure out how to quote a post within a post).
Some guys like to vote NO to earn cool points in the cockpit and portray themselves as a defender of the profession against Kool aid crowd , all without even reading a TA.
Other guys vote yes also without bothering to read a TA, and portray THEMselves as some sort of defender of the Delta "family" against the "malcontents".
I don't agree with either side.

Alrighty then.
Except you added the little tidbit about not taking any brainpower to vote NO. You likely have never voted NO unless you were told to do so by management/DALPA, so you're in a poor position to describe the level of brainpower it takes to vote NO.

Why highjack every conversation with your obvious agenda? We get it. Everything ALPA sucks. I've seen you extoll the virtues of USAPA and be proven wrong so many times your credibility is zero.

He meant it takes no brainpower to be an automatic no voter. Pretty obvious even to the dumbest reader. There are people who come here to learn the issues in an attempt to make an informed decision when the time comes. It's gets really old to sit here and watch you call other posters names and question their integrity anytime their view is different then yours.
