Do you honestly think that if as some suggest we walked into negotiations and stated we will not accept or discuss any concessions in any section of the contract the NMB would embrace that and push us through the process to release?
In this environment I don't care about getting released if doing so means eating concessions. I would rather sit on current book for years versus paying for a raise and giving up scope and work rule "productivity" changes. I'm all in favor of packaging our position to sound reasonable. My previous post was somewhat exagerated but not much. Sure we should compromise. But 5B in ridiculous money flushed down the drain precicely because they have run out of things to do with it means no concessions, period. The NMB does not demand every TA have concessions in order to get released. They just want "reasonableness" which can be achieved (and then some) by aiming very, very, very high and settling for very, very high.

Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of 90 seaters configured with a management desired first class and comfort sections operated at the cut throat bottom feeder ACMI labor buster alter ego certificates is a massive roadblock to a 100 seater being brought to mainline.

It still could happen. JB does it, and at rates dramatically higher than the pathetic revolt inspiring obsolete rates we have for it in our CBA. But their 100 seater is all coach so it would likely be a high 80's or 90 seater configured for mainline.

The 717 was I think a 117 seater for AirTran, including 2 or 3 rows of first class. Its 110 for us.

In any case we need to do everything we can to shrink the large "RJ" portion of DCI. Not more 90/76 seaters for less 50's again. The 90/76ers need to be reduced, period. After that, if a 100 seater makes sense for the network, we'll get it. No concessions necessary.

DALPA Lame Excuse For The Day

"The value we can grab today is fleeting."

We need to hurry and make concessions and reduce profit sharing. As Delta becomes investment grade and trades at 13 times earnings our leverage will decrease.

Only the dumbest pilots on earth would believe this fairy tale.

What's the rush?

Did someone within DALPA actually say that to you? Please tell me you're just joking

The 100 seaters did eventually show up. The company just happened to jerk us around for 19 years in the process. Look at all the mileage they got out of that one.

That used to be the conventional wisdom in the Admiral Benbow lounge near closing time.

And we all know how well that worked out.

Funny that today RA mentioned to the WSJ he is looking at the 787-1000 jet. during the 1113 contract I think the buzz phrase was "largest widebody order ever". That turned out to be 2 777's.
Perhaps a contract is close at hand!

It's always something.
When they were selling the 96 contract, management and the union promised it would lead to "unprecedented growth".
Turned out ... not so much.
